Are you using one layer of glass or two? Usually shrinkage occurs when you have one layer or if the second layer doesn't completely cover the edges of the bottom layer.

The website that Jerry mentioned looks like a real good source of info....I did recognize several of the names. The mirror system to me was the hardest to learn. My boss has designed some awesome fused kaleidoscopes. I've done one with the body and wheels fused. Believe me making fused wheels is a l...

I have successfully etched glass.....stained glass and dichroic glass for several years. I use the Armour Etch cream. Usually it is a cream color, but have had a couple of bottles that were more tan in color and they still worked okay.

Paul Tarlow in Austin teaches a lot of classes. We have classes but we are in Fort Worth. Before Paul started teaching classes, we had people drive up for our classes. Maybe you can contact him, his work is terrific. We don't have the current classes listed yet on the website but you can see what we...

attaching slumped shape to another piece of glass

http://pic2.picturetrail.com/VOL29/400321/510551/31868143.jpg I took some fiber board (Kaiser board? 1/4" thick), cut out a rose bud shape, put thin fire on top, then the red rose bud pieces. On top of that I put 2 clear squares and let it slump to get the red fused on the clear and the clear ...

I know that Dennis Brady listed on the Warner-Crivellero board the classes he will be teaching next year. There is a website for Glass Expo but there is nothing on it right now. But you might bookmark it and check pretty regularly. They are good about getting things organized and advertized FAR in a...

Those prices sound really good.
Where are you in Texas?

Dichcro Magic is in Round Rock near Austin (I think).
I haven't used it because we carry the CBS dichroic at the shop where I work in Fort Worth.

Try going to: http://www.spectrumglass.com click on their free patterns. In set #17 there is a fused coaster pattern by Lisa Vogt. Also look in in the last one......she had a fused Easter theme which Spectrum gave to retailers to give out as a free pattern. Warner Criv. (which is another sponsor of ...

I noticed that in the book "Fusing Made Easy" , it just says "adhere frame to the back." I just purchased the clear acrylic (sp) frames, centered it on back and glued using E6000. A simple way, but very casual look, would be to fuse two wire loops between the top pieces (similar ...

Using baked Sculpey as a mold?

I have used Sculpey to make a shape to pour mold mix over to make a mold for casting. I have used Sculpey to form a shape, baked it, then poured mold mix in it to make a mold. Has anyone ever taken Sculpey, make the shape you want for draping/slumping, baked it, put kilnwash on it and then used it i...

I'm hoping that maybe at the AGA convention in July Wardell will have a second book (hope,,,, hope,,,,,hope :D...

Using flash glass

I now have some Wasser flash glass. I have never used flash glass.....seen it used in regular stained glass but not fused. So here are my questions: 1. I want to put a design on the flash glass but Wasser is so thin....can it safely be sandblasted or would it be better to be etched? OR can it be etc...

I'll say about the same as the others.........Wasser must be fired at a lower temperature or you do end up with "Yucky" results. Around 1340 (according to their notes) is a full fuse (my notes are in the other room). Don't give up, keep trying and I think you will be more pleased with the ...

Like Tracy said, use fiber paper. That's what I do with my pendants that I want to run the cord through. Just be sure that you look at your piece from the side and visualize the glass slumping down. Make sure that the top piece is far enough over to slump all the way down. My first couple of pieces ...

We sell a lot of Paragon kilns at the shop where I work. They make them when they are ordered. I don't know if you ordered a Parago...
