clip My desire is to do the traditional style of painted window in the Jacoby & Myers or Munich tradition. clip You are one sick puppy. Me too. You belong in Antrim NH at Dick Millard's class. One thing to add to Bert and Dani's info: When I was shown how to badger a matte around properly, I wa...

Brad will be putting some of my painted images in the gallery soon, including a set of church windows. Stay tuned. And if you check out some stained glass history books at the library, you'll get a pretty solid grasp of what can be done with the Reusches. (Not that the Elskus book is lacking in any ...

Also, if you go into the old archive section above and type in "Reusche" as a keyword, you'll get a gazillion results.... okay, maybe just a hundred but there is quite a bit of discussion. Happy reading.

If I am ever bending elbows with a bunch of glassers, I'll know which topic not to bring up to start a fracas. Shall we have a go at religion after this. From those who are smarter and have greater resources than I: The purpose of applying a liquid to a score is to weaken the silicone oxygen bonds....

Okay, I gotta ask... and who cares if everyone on the board isn't entertained by the direction of the conversation. Why are people gluing cardboard onto the glass? You've lost me there.....

Now there's an idea I didn't think of.... sewing machine oil. Much nicer and more efficient than those big messy bottles of lamp oil. Great idea! Thanks. :)

An experienced glass cutter can break a dry score easily enough especially if it's a straight cut. But, if you're a newbie, give yourself a (clean) break and use cutting oil. (I just use lamp oil.) Especially if you're making curved cuts or using difficult glass. They'll break more easily, whatever ...

    Bill Branch wrote me and asked if I was sure it was B l ack Magic. I thought I was sure until he raised the question. Just went out to check the spelling. Guess what? It's BACK magic. Actually that makes sense since it's for the back of glass. Bottle says it matures at 9...

And just to confuse the issue even more, I just stumbled upon a knitters gadget called Black Magic as opposed to BACK Magic which is for fusing.... and eventually I'm sure we'll find another Back Magic which is related to spinal health if we search long enough..... Oy!

I love my big Skutt and still haven't found a compelling reason to add that controller. I fuse at cone 015 or 016 and cure paints and slump at cone 018 or 019 as a general rule. The cone required depends on the size and thickness of the project and also how many shelves I'm stacking. The firs...

Re: Cutting a Circle

Hi, I just received my handy-dandy circle cutter but no instructions. I just scored a beautiful, even circle. Now what? How do I get the circle out of the glass. I've tried tapping. I cut a score into the circle line and broke some of the border off. Is this how it is done. Seems like I might break...

You don't like the slumped bottle idea for the wall? 49 bottles of beer on the wall, 49 bottles of beer...... LOL.
