Conversion Chart for Gauge to mil

Hi I am looking for a conversion chart to convert copper foil gauge to mil. Nimrod Hall sells by mil, I have some copper that is 40 ga. I am at a loss as to how to find my answer. I read the archives no help, so did a search on the internet nothing. I thought this would be a simple thing to find. Th...

Hi Carla, I have a coffin kiln who's shelf is in 2 pieces. I have those shelves covered with 110-J fiber paper. I don't pay much attention to where the center seam is when I load the kiln. You might want to try some of it. All you do is cut it to the size and shape of you entire (all 3) shelf then f...

Jeremy, Am I understanding that you are building on the shelf? If correct I think you want to look at the kiln in person before you buy it. I have the Skutt GM 814, what I don't like is that I have to tilt the shelf to get it in below the pyrometer or what ever that thing is that sticks into the kil...

I posted earlier that I had an exhaust fan in the ceiling that goes outside in my basement. I think the brand was NuTone and it is a dual fan. Yes when I light a candle the smoke and fumes from the candle go up to the fan. You don't even smell the scented candle if you are not between the candle and...

Hi Ellen, I have my studio in the basement. What I did for ventilation was install an exhaust fan in the ceiling and have it vent to the outside. It works well. When it is on and my big kiln if firing the temperature is comfortable. I also do traditional stained glass and solder using this same fan ...

Hi Vicki, I don't have the Tarus III yet just ordered it today but I do have the Gryphon Wire saw. I use chap stick over my black marking pen and it keeps the mark on pretty good. Just mark the chapstick you use on the glass. lol Nanc

Charlie, There is no aluminum on the back of Ceramaguard. If it is YES you have a life time supply. Good find. Nanc

Hi Charlie, Could it be Ceramaguard? I looked it up and it comes in 24 x24 and 24x 48 and is 5/8 in thick. It comes fisured or another texture that they have discontinued I am told. It is white on one side and muddy color on the back and smooth. I have some in my garage waiting for me to use. Mine i...

Hhi, There is a tutorial on firing bottles on this site. The schedule is good for my Skutt GM814. Happy slumping. Read the book that came with your kiln from cover to cover so that you understand how it works. Don't forget the first firing which I think is 1550 over a 3 hour period. This is in the b...

Linda, I have found that wine bottles that are more streamlined have less of a bubble or no bubble. The bottles with shoulders (beer bottle shape) have more of a bubble. Like Charlie said turned upside down the fold and bubble do turn into legs. When you look at the schedule that Brad directed you t...

For portable electric here is what I did. It is working for me. I run lights, printer, and sometimes my laptop if I forget to charge the thing. Deep marine battery, inverter but get a bigger one than you think you will need because things seem to work better. I put both these things in a big plastic...

Randy, I have never never had any luck with Borax solution. I get the same nasty scum that you got. Like some of the others have said try it without the Borax. I do know it is just on the very surface because since I don't have a sandblasting set-up I used etching cream on a piece. I left it set on ...

Ron, We have a scoreboard and we are both right handed. We score on the right side of the bar that is perp. or angled. Maybe we are using it wrong but Mark used it this way when I saw him use it. Maybe the instructions or the picture were printed wrong.

My kilns are in the basement. I have an exhaust fan over the kilns that is vented outside by a duct. Seems to work great. When firing something that should have odors there are no odors once a few feet away from the kilns and no odors upstairs. This was my only option other than the Orton fan system...
