Yes
It's a pain in the butt but itll work. The trouble is annealling. Stay small and experiment to see if you like it. For bigger work you'll want more control.

Yeah Apparently Sys96 is expensive everywhere but we've got it best stateside. An australian friend bought 5#s of bullseye in WA state for $30 (I thought it was mispriced) and she said it would have been almost 400 in australia. Does this sound right? On the other hand, she said Gaffer is dirt cheap...

A pile about the size of me! One of those great dumpster scores just after they changed the regulations on how thick glass lenses could actually be. Its hard to know how much is actually there because each lens is individually wrapped. They actually belong to my studio mate but I'm sure some wheelli...

Does this oven make an audible click sound when it kicks on or off? I didn't see anywhere in the rampmasterII literature that it would have a High limit switch. If the relay goes in the ON position or the controller brainfarts the kiln could go max itself out. You might ask their tech about it. Mayb...

I bet that hanging it on metal supports thing works really well! Yeah as long as you dont get clumsy and poke the metal through your mold  You didn't notice any difference between Bullseye kilnwash and what? And are you talking about hot casting or kilncasting in this instance? Bullseye and n...

It was Fiona.

I have done a couple larger projects, but one bowl crumbles about six months after manufacture for no reason. Is this one bowl that you have made several times or a typo? Do you think the glass comes from bottles? How did it behave for you?

I believe it is helpful to have DRY stuff. If it is wet try going slow through the boiling range and again at the chemical moisture range (6 or 700) The more you let the moisture gas off before the glass softens, the less gas for bubbles. Also try one with the leaf dipped in kiln wash or zircar. One...

Also, I got some glass beads that are used for petroleum clean-up or filteration that look pretty interesting- clearish spheres a little bigger than a pea. I suspect that these beads are one of the many products made from recycled bottle glass but I want to make something w/ them just to see. Got th...

Haven't run into any of my hacker friends to get past it yet BUT- If people are really desperate, someone can print it out on their printer and easily make photocopies to send around... Start small and make small mistakes Try a batch of small tests that have successively higher amounts of flux. take notes see if adding a flux helps out. I think you could try borax or similar. Wet the glass add flux. stir for even distribution. Let dry or not Take notes.. Report back here Do not fai...

It was wet sand as used in sandcasting (olivine 90 or 100 mesh, 8- 10% bentenite). Zircar is water soluable but I had "fired" the mold back to white when I burned my wax out. I've met some people who don't back it with sand- they hang their mold in a metal support and ladle into it... Have...

Mold Mix 6 From Planet Zircar So... How many folks out there have played with the white stuff? Did anyone see you? I played with it and I liked it. I'm going to do it again soon but I thought that I should see if there is a zircar support group. I hot cast into it and I did some sulfide style inclus...

Another thing to consider w/ a dry plaster mold is that the melting wax is just going to seep into the plaster (my guess). You need the water in the plaster to resist the molten wax (my opinion).
