I use a dremel tool in a drill press with a water drip system that keeps the spot I am drilling constantly covered with water. I know some people drill with the piece submerged in water which I'm sure works as well. I use Triple Ripple diamond drill bits from Kingsley North http://www.kingsleynorth....

Coincidentally I was filling out a form this morning to submit two of my pieces to be considered for a show and had to sign a certification stating this "I hereby certify that the artwork entered above is not a copy, derivative or based on the work of others..."

I couldn't agree more with what you said Amy, and Amy, you are not the only artist who struggles with self doubt...and that's what I meant about silencing the Evil Self Critic in ones head. I'm not talking about the constructive critic that helps us along in doing strong work, but the one who says....

I've found that the best ideas come to me when I just throw myself into the manual work and don't think about it too much. I try to produce a lot, and out of that amount most of it is nothing special. Usually, though, there will be at least the kernel of an idea to work from and develop. I kind of ...

Maybe we should have a thread about self doubt about your work and how to handle it...or am I the only one that deals with that?

My inspiration is usually a result of something that is going on in my life or something I am dealing with. For example "Shattered" came out of a really stressful and difficult time that ended up bringing about some good things. I wanted the feeling of something being broken but mended and...

Steve Immerman!

Steve I am outing you, I hope you don't mind!!! Someone commented on going to your website and I realized I hadn't looked lately. Glad I did and everyone else should too. Bamboo Forest and Grenadine blew me away! Such precision, so much work and so beautiful and evocative. Congratulations!

Never used anything but good ol' BE kilnwash. Never had a problem with bubbles. Fire maybe 6-7 times on one wash depending of the temps of the firings and the glass I am using. I guess you can see from these answers that there are no hard and fast rules in kilnworking!!!

Hey Brock, do you remember that quiet, demure sweet lady who took one of the B&A classes here? She was very very nice and looked so conservative - wore her hair in a bun every day and was so soft spoken? Then we were outside on the patio having a drink after class and she matter of factly said,...

My husband says to me when I read your reply, "You asked her if she owned it?? I could have told you that!" Was it expensive to have them do it? And you had to send them all the way to OR from TN? No place closer?
