Please make sure that you keep the forum in the loop, I can imagine that many more of us would be more interested in purchasing one when you get them rolling. Good luck.

Re: Using Terra Cotta for catching pot melts.

I have often used the trays that they sell for the clay pots to potmelt into....kilnwash really well and melt into them works pretty well but the edges are usually not straight so sme cold w.orking or refusing is required...but they make a cheap way to get a round melt.

Re: Kiln Problem

Valerie, that is what I am hoping..it is a paper thin space where the fiber inner lid butts against the SS outer lid, filtering down as the lid is closed spreading throughout the kiln.

Re: Kiln Problem

Believe me I am hoping that the "fix from Phil works, otherwise I will have to do something. Nothing is easily accessible, as Bert indicated I'll have to "skin" it, and I dont really want to do that.

Re: Kiln Problem

I dont either but it is..Phil said he had found some caulk that might work and will send it to me. I'm hoping because it is a PITA! Have to cover the opening with cardboard as I close the lid to catch most of it, then slip the Cardboard out as the lid closes and hope nothing else falls.

I was having bits of rust and flakes of material falling into the firing chamber..I searched and searched and couldnt figure out where they were coming from. Re: Wall pocket

The back is smaller than the top, the top is bigger to allow it to drapeover the fiber on the sides and bottom

Re: Wall pocket

I make these with a single front and back layer..put some thinfire on the pocket mold and dont fire so hot I find that 1425 for 10-15 minutes will give you a good seal w/o needling...mostly these were made with regular Spectrum waterglass

I dont believe that Non fusible Spectrum irid will make it through a full fuse firing intact. Up or down.
