Adjusting Your Chicago Tile Saw Part Three

Even though it was square, the table slid a little diagonally. I fixed that by placing a very thin fiber washer between the table and the sliding bracket. The pencil is pointing at it.

Adjusting Your Chicago Tile Saw Part Two

With the saw still unplugged and the guard off, place the square flat on the table as shown and LIGHTLY against the blade. http://users.wi.net/~magnum/Saw/3.JPG If it needs adjusting, loosen the two large bolts at each end of the machine then loosen the allen screws and move the bar side to side at ...

Adjusting Your Chicago Tile Saw Part One

Here are some adjustments to make your saw cut better. They don't include instructions for adjustments so I had to figure this out for myself. There are two adjustments you can make. One: Unplug the saw. Then remove the blade and blade guard. Then re-install the blade without the guard. Place a 24&q...

You're welcome Cheryl and good luck with your pendants. Kitty and Mark, thanks for the advice. I ordered some 3mm rattail for now until I see how these things sell. Leather is quite a bit more expensive and I want to make sure my pieces are leather worthy before I invest the extra money. Steve, than...

Hi Cheryl, I got my bails from here.
http://www.stainedglasswarehouse.com/
I don't know if they ship worldwide. If not, let me know and we can work something out.

Hi Kitty, the few sites I went to only carried up to 2mm cord. Where do you find 3mm?

Thanks, Randy

Looking For Black Shiny String

http://users.wi.net/~magnum/Necklace/Necklace.JPG I found a use for those pesky broken pot melts. Cut em up and make pendants out of them. But what I need to finish them is something to hang them from. My neighbor lady had a spool of black shiny string. She doesn't remember where she got it or what...

Testing Thermocouple Accuracy

A while back someone told of a test for checking the accuracy of a thermocouple. If I remember right a cone was placed in the kiln and fired. When the cone bent, the pyrometer was adjusted to a certain setting. I searched in the archives and didn't have any luck. Does anyone remember that test? I've...

Inspired By Lisa Allen

I had made a pattern bar quite a while ago and I couldn't decide how to use the slices. :-k A visit to Lisa's site inspired this.

Seperation Of Jewlery And Plates

I have some of my work in a gallery, bowls, plates and vases. One of the terms there is that I don't sell my work at any other stores in the county. Is that a rule most galleries have? Is that a reasonable rule? I have been making some jewelry lately, earrings, necklaces and a few pins. It's nothing...

Thanks to everyone for taking time to write and for all the helpful advice. I'm sure we'll forget something, but it's a local art fair and only a few miles from home so if something is desperatly needed it won't be a problem to get it. Sometime this week I plan on doing a pre show set up by marking ...

First Time Art Fair, Looking For Tips

Just under two weeks until my first time selling at an art fair. It's a juried event so it's not a "craft" fair but it's not a fine arts deal either. Sort of in between. It's an outside event. I have a list going in my head of what to bring but I think I had better write it form in the for...

Yes I have been cleaning them. I have one of those old concrete wash tubs , I fill it with about a half inch of water and a couple of drops of Dawn dish soap. Then I give the earring a quick rub on the concrete to get the kiln wash off then rub the earring between my fingers to clean it. Then a quic...

Thanks for all your responses. As usual I got more information than I asked for and that's always a good thing! :D I have a couple more questions, a couple of you mentioned that you "grind" the back before gluing. How exactly are you grinding them? Some of my pieces have a little kiln wash...

How Do YOU apply E 6000

I have about 150 pair of earrings to glue the backs to. I am using E6000 adhesive. I squeeze out a small blob onto a piece of scrap glass, then I use a tooth pick to apply a small dab of glue to the earring back, then quickly attach my glass piece. After about 5 pieces, the glue starts to get rubber...
