if you want to make expensive more expensive...try flipping the tiles just to flatten the dichro down and fuse at a just above slumping temps to flatten then flip over again and add clear cap. Did this for a large plate and it's impressive but hasn't sold yet - but if it's for yourself go for it. be...

 It's probably toast - but I would just look in another directioin and make into some kind of mosaic piece - fust the individual pieces to flatten a little and have it made into a very textured stained glass piece - when I totally goof up a piece I usually just take it in another direction - no...

Sign the stand! Brock On my gass portraits I sign the frame with the name of the piece in gold pen with my name and date. On the glass itself I actually just sign my initials with the date. Someone pointed out to me that if for some reason the frame is replaced or whatever reason the frame get remo...

Re: Signatures on frit cast pieces
Is there a bottom to the piece that is flat? Can you sign on the bottom? Or is the whole thing very sculptural having no flat surfaces -and is mounted by a stand? I've been frit casting pieces with alot of texture in them, so I am having a problem signing them. I was etching the signature, but that ...

:D I always ask! Mostly because with over 600 names on my mailing list I do not need to send out a postcard to someone who is going to just toss it. Plus when I get a enthusiastic yes it's great for my ego. Also I ask because I really want their email address. I send postcards out about 4 or 5 times...

Re: element droop
Try putting the pins at an an angle such that the curve end rest inside the groove of the brick so when it tries to fall out it gets stuck .....I hate this problem! Good luck - Terry O. i have a front load evenheat gts22 kiln with elements in the ceiling. i noticed that a few metal pins have fallen ...

Once upon a time when I got hit very badly with tendinitis and sever pain that went through the night the physical therapist had me soak my hands up to my elbows in alternating baths of hot and ice water , 1 minute (?) at a time up to a total of 10 minutes. This helped the circulation get going. Cat...

Re: Palo Alto CA Galleries
If you are in Palo Alto during July come to the ACGA Clay and Glass show. See link http://www.acga.net I'll be at that show also. As far as galleries - I'm not that familiar - lots have closed down due to the dot com bust etc. Let me know when you are in town and I'll be glad to show you around etc....

Re: nurit ?
One funny story - on my very first machine, first show, my merchant service deposited my transactions to my account TWICE! but since I'm honest I called them and tried to straighten them out - they just couldn't get it at first - they said it was the first time anyone called to have money take...

Re: nurit ?
Just came back from a computer show at the "Cow Palace" in San Francisco. Many of the vendors had a nurit type of set up and we observed a vendor running in and out of the building to get reception on her machine. Saw another vendor holding the machine to the sky to try to get reception! :...

credit card machine/ knucklebuster
I carry both only because once in awhile the reception does not go through on the cell phone so I carry my knucklebuster anyway. Or like the first few shows where I would make every mistake possible I would just grab the knucklebuster and use that. I always collect the customer's phone number just t...

I have heard that if you work iwth galleries and you want to get paid up front sometimes it's easier for the gallery if they know that they can charge it. Less hassel for them to get the check written and faster money in your account. .... Where I sell mostly with galleries I will look into how many...

Re: Credit Card Machine
if you only do a couple of sales a year it may not be worth it - even if you do lose sales. If they are high end ticket items then it will be worth the money and the ease of mind to run the transaction during the show. To process remotely you need either a phone that is run with analog service - whi...

Re: Shared studio space questions
You might have to consider what other types of mediums can be compatible with glass. According to other artist friends one in painting and one in clothing the "noise" we make cutting, grinding glass is way too much and it destroys their creative space...something to think about. ......I ha...
