Thanks so much for all of the wonderful acolades. I was really sweating this commission. When I took it out of the kiln after the final fuse with the irid on something must have dropped from the top of my kiln and made a small hole on the top right near the edge. I thought I might be able to firepol...

Drawing on the right side of the brain by Betty Edwards.

Drawing is still fundamental to all art be it glass or otherwise. If you think you can't draw, you should get this book and work through all of the exercises. You will be surprised just what talent you have!!!

A note on that 7" HF saw. Any of you try to find a GOOD replacement blade for that 1" arbor??? Good luck. They are impossible to find. 1" is not a standard size for manufacturers. 5/8" is the prefered size. You may find A blade for it, but if you want a specific blade that is thi...

I have the 2-1/2 HP Chicago saw from HF. On the + side you get the following: 1) Very cheap price 2) Acceptable motor On the - side you get the following: 1) The water feed system is a joke. It WILL fail on you. It does not lubricate consistantly or evenly. The quickest way to fry a nice expensive d...

Re: Pigment of my imagination?

i'm always curious why there isn't a good magenta or fuschia in the color lines of any of the fusible, and why the most intriguing ring mottles don't handle fusing well - no i've not tried them but i've been told they don't like going to full fuse but i would love to fuse a layer of ring mottles to...

Thanks for the positive feedback. There are some minor faux pas on a technical basis but for the most part it's all correct. I wanted to list just about everyone when he asked for influences and mentors but he limited me to one. Could not and would not be where I am today if it were not for all of t...

Gale,

Link does not work. I did the same thing yesterday. Go to your album and share it. When it asks for an email put in your own and they will email you a link to your pictures. Copy that link and post it.

The controller from Orton was $225. The main relays are merc. The relays that fire these are SSR's. Not sure what would make a relay break unless it was run hotter than it's rated capacity or mechanically hit. The control box is vented for any heat dissipation and closed and contained to avoid any m...

Thanks for the kudo's. The kiln is home built. The internal firing dimensions are 4' x 4' x 17". There is a 2" space from the shelves to the wall inside so the total internal space is 26.6 cuft. I sized the power at 1KW/cuft so the total power capability is 26.6KW. There are a number of sp...
