Re: Bit of light helps.

Thanks Vonon, I hope I don't get tired of it once completed. For this image I used lecy tape to fix a LED strip to one side and the base. I bought the strip from a hardware chain here in Oz but am sure there would be other options on the net from specialist lighting company's. It's the first time I'...

Bit of light helps.

This piece is now home safe and sound. Was pushed for time to realise before exhibition what I wanted to share. From the start this piece kept evolving from the original concept, but the goal was always to achieve a dream like state. Some moments clear, others hazy and the entry into the subconsciou...

Re: Giant clam

I'm along with Kevin. I hope others are clicking on image to view then enlarge, very nice. On a previous thread I get that you are from Oz, are you near the Great Barrier Reef or right into diving? peace, haydo

Re: Art Whitsunday 29th Annual Exhibition

Thanks Fiona, Dreamtime has made my head hurt too. Don't know how long it will sit before a revisit to blast a pattern into slab and electroplate with copper plus embed LEDs. Poor baby will be like a lab rat. It's already taught me a bit. We get to enjoy the bowl here on its new plinth while the own...

Re: Art Whitsunday 29th Annual Exhibition

Hey Kevin, thanks for compliments. Dreamtime was imagined and then priced, after that it became very different to what was intended. Now it's time to revisit how the other part of our region can be tapped into. A young couple are developing an art gallery, rainforest timber furniture business plus t...

Art Whitsunday 29th Annual Exhibition

It has been fairly hectic to get these pieces in the latest exhibition held in Airlie Beach as part of the Reef Festival on new plinths. Luckily Bluedog Glass from Melbourne were accommodating with packaging a couple of Tekta sheets express to assist in finalising Dreamtime. The opening is tonight b...

Re: Autumn of our Reign.

BLACK.jpg No pets at this centre. Loosing this piece would have had me do something foolish if it was among the mess that the fire left, would have become so rash that the idea of three banks in the ruins wouldn't have been a factor to how secure the site was. I recently did a cruise ship market at...

Re: Autumn of our Reign.

Jen, Dana this was in an artist run gallery at Cannonvale Shopping Centre near Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays. No suspicion regarding the fire just a comedy of errors that followed that allowed it to spread, wiping out Target department store, homewares store, three bank branches, cafe, hairdresser...

ASHES for Autumn of ouir Reign.jpg
Would have liked a better home for this piece, like back home. Still feel deflated that I didn't drive up the coast and sneak onto the site at night to reclaim, by about 3am most nightshift workers are somewhere else. peace, haydo

Eyesore#3 and Eyesore#4

011.JPG 001.JPG 004.JPG I used these two little projects to trial new mould set up to make these and bubble blocks. Happy that there is no shifting of the walls to allow leakage and that extraction of the fresh block of glass is a joy. Have been distracted with work using float for souvenir panels ...

Re: Annealing question

Have you ever considered transferring the slabs to the slumping mould in the same firing, would save a ton in time with the cautious reheat.

Re: Two oldies resurected.

Cheers Vonon, the bubbles came about by random as some of the canes would have been hollow, no control. I rubbed the panels down with a small piece of float use 120 grit Silica Carbide then a 400 grit diamond pad. peace, haydo

Re: Two oldies resurected.

Sorry Jen, these are backfilled engraved images using 'Gare' undercoat then capped before placing in a fused panel of canes. Did it this way to avoid flow.

Re: Bubble blocks used as memorial.

Thank you Havi. I'm glad I never gave it away as a bad idea. The last block to gift which is not pictured here has a clear bubble to allow showing of special items that can fit through a one inch hole. The recipient is over seas for a few more months which means I get to enjoy it.

I look at it as fortunate to have two old panels available for trials to learn.

Re: Bubble blocks used as memorial.

Thanks Lesley, three of the four blocks created to help prove a product are of my mother to gift to siblings. Images are of her from another era so different to the one she found herself in. Life is a journey and everyone has a story. peace, haydo

Re: Bubble blocks used as memorial.

Thanks Vonon. The images are decals produced by inplainsight in the US. One fire to fix image to base white and second fuse firing to cap and border. Laminated to block using HXTAL. Got a couple more to finish and photograph to use in a new Face Book business page later this year or next. peace, haydo

Re: Bubble blocks used as memorial.

Thank you for the compliments Lynn and Jen. Have been able to spend time away from these but do recall it's almost meditative doing the cold working on these with fine grits toward the end polish. peace, haydo

Bubble blocks used as memorial.

021.JPG 008.JPG These are an off shoot of the bubble blocks used to construct "Thoughts of a Madman". Have been playing with other little projects but looking forward to tweaking the process for these as they could be good for the studio later. We've been thinking loved ones, pets, weddin...
