Re: Need help from Skutt 1414 and BE users

I recently purchased a Skutt 1414, coffin style kiln, after having used a ceramic type Skutt. I have been using BE glass, and following a modified BE fusing schedule. Most recently I tried to use a high tack schedule to leave texture to my pieces. As a result, I got alot of bubbles, and some were s...

I saw the thread started by Els called "Kvetch" which was a discussion of old board/new board. By the way.. can't find that thread ANYWHERE now... maybe I'm not up-to-speed on the SEARCH function yet?). I deleted the thread. It had deteriorated into a pissing contest between two of our bo...

It seems to me we have two distinct camps, one which feels that the old board was better and one that likes the new board. It seems that many of the old, longer term visitors like the old board best, while many of the newer posters like the new format. According to the poll, the new format seems to...

I saturate, press out as much as possible as I form the fiber to the object, & stick the object w/fiber in the kiln (lid propped somewhat) and heat at about 220 tops until it's stiff enough to remove the object. Then I finish drying it. I don't kilnwash, & have re-used many times. For what i...

Re: sand cloud

Hi Linda... Don't remember the number etc. offhand. But it's the big red one that is often on sale for $199. It's an older compressor , Sears Craftsman, that I bought off a guy in my old studio. It works fine, but it's dreadfully noisy. Let me know if you want more specific info. And you're right ab...

Checked out VAC-36... outta my league pricey... I'll check again at Sears for the HEPA... Last time I checked there, the sales guy said they didn't have them. Thanks, Tony.

HEPA,lights, grit: ACTION

Hi Tony... I've been meaning to get a HEPA filter, but nobody seems to stock them, so I'll have to order online, I guess. Hose move?

Hi Bernadette... so let me get this straight: you insert the shopvac hose in the BACK hole (oooo this sounds gross, doesn't it...)? I have that one open for the sake of suckability. I have the hose entering on the left of the cabinet. THe hole in the back, when unplugged, isn't a direct open conduit...

Yep. Removed the thingie on the back of the cabinet. I stop often too to let it clear. But it makes me nuts cause it clouds up so quickly. I have an external light too, which helps... for a couple minutes...

Still love your earrings!

Sand Cloud help?

I have that Harbor Freight blast cabinet. No pressure pot. Using shop vac. as dust collector. The dust cloud in the cabinet drives me nuts. Any suggestions? How do you guys handle this? Tony? Anybody?

Thanks,
Barbara
