If you are going to take that back up to full fuse personally i would heat it up at 100 degrees an hour to 800 then 250 to full fuse. Follow Pattys anneal. She know lg 96. I would add one more cycle to cool till 600 slowly though.

If they do get scratched just apply more wash. Maybe you are confusing them with casting molds where you do need to clean them between castings.

if you have a sandblaster that is the way to go.......we do not so we use our flat lap to clean all the surfaces. as far as thickness.....if you are doing a piece where you want clean geometric lines all the same thickness would be best. If it is not then they will be fine if there are differences.....

I make all of my molds on the potters wheel so they are all round. Each one is one of a kind with different lips. You actually get the one in the photo on our site. As far as square molds go.....i think the best bet is to make one out of fiberboard.....cutting a hole in the center and lightly sandin...

I think it must be something in the kiln wash that is not disolving completely......I would not worry about it and fire away........if you sand it off you will just have to reapply it. Personally we prefer Bullseye wash. Have fun with the molds!

That is why we make molds especially for slumping that are bottomless!! I hand throw them with a variety of sizes and lips. Here is an example. They last forever!! I do not use duct tape..... And i do use a sucktion cup that shows if it even starts to lose suction. I would not try to use one unless the bottom is totally flat.......i should have said that!

that..... All i do is take very fine steel wool and glass cleaner using some elbow grease and i do not have that problem. Lucky? I'll take it!

Depends on the size of the shelf and what you are firing. Experiment and keep notes. You may find the bottom shelf is cooler and perfect for textural relief pieces....... or they may all fire the same if spaced well.

I go to tap plastics.....go thru their scrap box and cut them up. I end up with a box that can last a long time for around $20.
