Re: Working With Others
Had the most lovely visit from Anna Bilek at Passion For Glass in Calgary and we talked technical and enjoyed every minute of a walk about at the show. Her beautiful daughter and friend came along as well and it was wonderful talking to young ladies about glass .

Re: Working With Others
Dear Don, your words have touched my heart. I love working with others and creating a space that is unique and hopefully the work is innovative and different. The Black Alabaster was probably my most exciting new element I have worked with and have fallen in love with the ability to carve, cut, poli...

Re: Working With Others
A very dear friend of ours from high school is a photographer and he was in Zion and took the canyon shots and we blew them up on canvas . So the wall hangings are photographs! BUT Bullseye Glass Company have some excellent suggestions for hanging glass! Perhaps check out there site . They are truly...

phpKL4sooAM.jpg phphCB1OtAM.jpg image5.JPG Sometimes it is a refreshing and wonderful experience to work with another artist and try to create pieces in their colour pallet that makes you step out of your comfort zone. This show was a journey filled with inspiration and true joy working in colours ...

Re: Blowing OUT large Colour bar sections
Yes Kevin, and no!!! [-( :-k This is something you have told me for years and I am having a hard time aren't I !!! =P~ but actually if you see the pieces in person they are only 1/8th thick colour bars surrounded by clear which gives depth to the pieces and interesting things through the layers. So ...

Well we opened the kiln and I am happy with the quiet look in the vessel forms. So different from my fused/cast pieces. Les

Blowing OUT large Colour bar sections
I have not had so much fun in a very long time. Went to Bavin Glass Works in my town worked with amazing glass blower Ryan Bavin and Leah Duperrault , where we took large sections of a few 96 colour bars and blew them out into lovely vessel forms that I cannot get when slumped in molds. Quite differ...

Re: Sandblasting Pattern Bar Slices
I have only ever had to grind the edge if it touched a mold or kiln shelf while creating the color bar. AND it is just touched to the side of the saw blade to flatten and clean . So even with a 3 inch wide by 20 inch cut , if it is out of the center of the colour bar, I never have to grind anything,...

Re: Sandblasting Pattern Bar Slices
Perhaps the best rule of thumb is where ever the glass has touched molds or kiln shelves it should be cleaned . I grind just the edges of the pattern bar piece that has touched a surface in the initial firing and also to straighten them but I do nothing accept clean really well with Green scrubby an...

AND many different kinds of Silver Foil out there and I am noticing completely different looks as well, AND yes if oxygen is at play! very beautiful. So have fun and experiment. I do have much better luc...
