it'll be a little different for each kiln it depends upon the thickness of your piece. the thicker, the slower. once at the top temp, you have to look at it to see how much it's rounded off. after doing it a few times, you'll have experience with your kiln to know how long to leave it at the top tem...

Light shield breaking
well, i'm tired of fixing this piece and am looking for suggestions that i may not have thought of. i have a wall niche with a (par30?) incadesant lightbulb in the floor. i made a 2 layer 16" round disk. i cut a 4" circle out of the middle, added 2 4" pieces of clear, and fused and an...

some (most?) sellers don't stock kilns. they get drop shipped directly from the manufacturer, who also don't usually stock kilns. they get made especially for you when they are ordered. if the manufacturer is making other orders, they may not get to yours for a while. 3 weeks isn't much. i've heard ...

I have to disagree about shaking the bottles of lusters. These are metallics in suspension and do not need to be shaken, nor should they be. If you shake the bottle, bubbles form which will burst and leave pin holes in your application. Avery right idea, wrong word. suspension means that pieces of ...

Re: First Kiln purchase recomendations
Hi, I'm new to fusing and have been researching kilns. I plan to put it in my basement and have a door opening restriction at 26" - I had hoped to get a Paragon GL24ADTSD but it won't fit.. Does anyone have recomendations on brands and models for a first kiln that can support larger size piece...

Also...shake the small bottle often...the metal settles quickly. If you use a brush for application..save it and use it for the gold ONLY. You do not want cross contamination. Normal painters turp can also be used to clean tool and/or brush. i use the end of a very thin stringer to get the liquid i...

I'd be more prone to using the bending glaze. I haven't had much success getting SuperSray to mature at that low a temp. I wonder if I can get my hands on some by tomorrow. What temps do you need to get to for borax to mature? I've got that. Good suggestion, thanks. i havn't had good luck with bora...

no. it depends upon too many variables. size of blank thickness of blank size of ring opening how far you want to drop it is it going to land on the shelf or be suspended basically, you fire it at a low-temp slumping schedule for a piece the size of your blank, look into the kiln, and vent to stop m...

Natural (occurring) and artificial (artificially man made) radiation are not of equal composition, energy and intensity. Hello, When I wrote natural and artificial radioactivity, I meant the SOURCE from which it came. I agree with all of you in most of your posts, adding neutrons as the most killing...

my son has http://store5.yimg.com/I/ehobbyland_1731_14181310 for spraying paint on car models. it'll only do 25psi. it's a aztek brand compressor, btw. if you need more, you need to use a real compressor. a tire won't get you that high either. a spare tank will, but both will also decrease over time...

Re: Compresser vs. air tank for air brush?
I like the look of the new air brush that Brad is selling, but I don't have a compresser, and don't want to use canned air. So, am I better off with a small compresser, or an air tank which, I presume, I could fill up at a gas station? If compresser, any suggestions re brands and sources? Thanks, P...

this isn't correct, and may be coming across as wrong due to language differences. there is no such thing as artificial radioactivity. it is all natural. radioactivity comes from 3 types of particles: alpha, beta, and gamma. these particles are produced by the breakdown of various radionucleotides, ...

hi brian, oxalic acid will work. it is sold in a crystal form as wood bleach over here. it is also the active ingrediant in zud tm cleanser. i use it to remove tannin stains from boat hulls. a mild solution of this will remove what would take a smoking concentration of muriatic to do the job. rosan...
