Anybody using a glue that dries really slow without having the hazy look after firing? Should be able to apply a really thin film and take at least ten minutes to dry. Everything I use forms a skin within two minutes.
Thanks

Glass Weight
Can somebody give me an accurate weight on a 2" x 4" piece of glass in standard thickness (3mm) and thin (1.6mm). I've been tracking the sales of scrap glass on the Internet. Most of the glass is sold by weight- usually in 1/4 lb or 1lb increments but I have seen it sold by the ounce. Just...

JJ: After reading your comment (among others)and checking through the archives- there probably isn't much of a problem with discoloration, as long as I stay away from certain colors. I was concerned enough to the point where I was thinking of constructing a small box using low density fiberboard to ...

Candy: Thanks for the information. It's very helpful. However you raise another point. Firing PMC in a kiln used for glass fusion. Have you had any problems with discoloration on the glass? I've read accounts where people who do both PMC and Glass in the same kiln find colored specks on the glass du...

If you want a clean flame- do a Google search on "Alcohol Burners". This should lead you to a labratory supply website. They are relatively inexpensive. It's been so long since I've used one I can't recall what type of alcohol I used. You might be able to get by with the common rubbing alc...

How to shine sterling
Brock: This A.M. was only the second or third time I've been to that site.
There was a question on lamination that gave rise to mine. I got some
good responses but for a respectable craft or hobby- how did some of the
langauge get into such a forum?

Beware! I wouln't use the so called "instant" liquid sterling silver cleaners. Over time - they will form an yellowish coating which is rather difficult to remove. Remember the old saying- "If it's too good to be true-

After doing some research, I have come to the conclusion that a clam shell kiln is my best option. The only problem is I can't find one that operates on 120 v. I wanted something that has an 8"by 8" to 10" by 10" shelf size. Is anyone aware of some obscure manufacturer where this...

Other then the obvious differences of compatibility and perhaps different

what's the sense having two types in the first place?

Duane: You raise an interesting point. I never really thought of that since a lot of manufacturers are making findings with anti tarnish properties which in turn is made by adding silica among other elements- in the casting process. This acts as as anti oxident.. While this does prevent tarnishing a...
