my kiln wash problem

I have applied be wash to my shelf before with no problem. This time when I applied it I noticed it was an orangy color rather than the pinkish that it was at earlier applications. I had just mixed an new batch. Okay, fired it before using and looked fine until I fused a piece (2 layer plus design)....

I also received a hugh piece of board..never used it before. Would like to cut out a big ring (drop ring) to make a sink. Do I have to harden this and how do I go about it?

Now :roll: ..I'm perplxed. Your initial firing schedule that you first mentined on this thread is different than the one you just gave with your response to me. Did you fire more than once? Initial firing then again for matte firing?..after sandblasting?

I fused a large piece and it came out fine- smooth as could be...When I slumped into the BE wave mold it created a indentation (not exactly a bubble). Thanks Tom............wish I had a bigger kiln to do 12 at one firing. I noticed that certain bottles always came out with a slight bubble while others are so smooth....now I know why. Much thanks....Ill give your schedule a try!

cute Marty, will do........... The strips are 1/4 o 1"........BE....all colors.......still happens regardless. Changed my cutter to new one.....could it be the runningplier (the rubber tips wear down soooooooooo quickly)...or is it just me. How do you achieve those fabulous strips on your bowls...

Why is it that when I put my running plier to the glass.........it does cut to the end of the strip.....makes a 'left turn about 3/4 of the way........
