you can smooth rough feeling paper by sprinkleing with dry kw or alumina hydrate and rubbing that around with your hand or a dry paint brush.

I am assuming you are using float glass.

the tin side of float will resist paint more than the air side.

gold LEAF generally dissapears into the glass. gold FOIL is what you want for fusing. rosanna
