Re: Workbench?

Counter height is good. You would just need a higher stool for projects that require sitting. It also provides enough room to have shelving underneath for storage.

Are you venting the kiln to 1000 degrees?

Try giving Bullseye a call. They are usually very helpful in their tech dept. Or you could post on their Forum.

Powder frit to hide devit?

I have a 11" square pattern melt that I had sandblasted with aluminum oxide and refired to eliminate some devit. Well the devit remained on the BE Teal opal sections. If I sift 08 clear powder frit over the entire surface and refire, will it mask the devit?

Re: Frit question

Not annealed. Read Stone's firing schedules for glass a few times cover to cover. :-k It appears that the piece is 6mm from what I can tell. What's the matter with the annealing schedule? As to the 1300 top temp firing schedule with a 2 minute hold, I must say that would be very low in my kilns. I ...

I can't answer as to whether it could potentially harm your kiln, but why not do it in the oven?

Blade or Wheel Stiffener

I bought a 6" X .012 saw blade for my 7" Rigid Saw. It needs stabilizing. I see people use 6" stabilizers for 10" blades and I'm wondering if anyone has used 4" stabilizers for a 6" blade? Or... if there's another alternative. Couldn't find any on HIS but saw them on Am...

Re: Kiln not firing

No error codes is tough. My guess is to either contact Evenheat or Bartlett (my guess for your controller manufacturer). Bartlett tech is helpful. http://www.bartinst.com/contact.html

Used Wet Belt Sander Advice

I am going to look at a used Somaca WBS (106G-RP24). I know very little about them (have only operated a WBS once) and would appreciate any input/tips as to what I should look at on the machine to ensure that it's in relatively good shape (or not).

Re: What magnet to put on fridge mags?

I have some magnets that I bought years ago at Michaels or Joann's. They are made by Darice. They are 3/4" round and 1/4" thick. They are wicked strong and hold pieces really well on the fridge. So well that they are a little difficult to pull off at times. I used Amazing Goop. I've never ...

Re: Error message on kiln controller

Just wondering why BE has the program segment AFAP to 70. When I program - I just eliminate this part and set the kiln to turn off after the annealing segments and let it cool naturally to room temp.

Probably depends on your printer's sensitivity. Try printing out a smaller design on an 8-1/2 X 11 piece and see if it jams or not.

Re: Fusing segment help

Bullseye recommends 1180 - 1250 depending on the mold (this is based on 6mm thick glass). Their schedule is 300 - 1180 hold 5, AFAP 900 hold 1 hr, 100 DPH to 700, hold 1. The viscosity of the type of glass you are fusing (cathedral, opal, color), as well as the thickness, will impact the rate at whi...

Re: OMG: I've been given a bottle!

500 to 1100 hold 10 250 - 1300 hold 5 AFAP - 1450 hold 5 (check to see how it's going and that it's flat) AFAP 1000 hold 1 hr 100 - 800 off. Bottles tend to get devit on them so I put borax solution on the top side which seems to work well. Practice with another glass bottle first if you want to see...

I use a 2mm barrel shaped diamond coated bit to sign my pieces. You can see that on it's own. Some other diamond coated bits I have (the pointy ones) are too fine and don't show up very well.

Re: Wire Melt/Kiln Wash Failure

I'll just throw out a picture of some recent melts I did. These were done with a top temp of 1550 with a 1/2" stainless screen. I am going to try 3/4" screen and 1" screen to see if it looks different. They did have some pitting in them but when I refired them to full fuse, they prett...
