Addendum....I just noticed that WC is a sponsor of our board. Oh well, another politically incorrect statement. :? Good thing none of our other sponsors have been hitherto exempt from flak. Nonetheless, I would be much interested in any comment from WC regarding my comments, which stem from other co...

Hi Dani. Love ya girl, but (truthfully) WC is one of the companies I did NOT talk about for very obvious reasons. "MY OPINION" They cut the edge between wholesale and retail and diminish the viability of both. That's the reason I suggested Rodney present his needs to his retailer. A retail...

Rodney, some of us have wholesale accounts because we jumped through all those hoops and qualified. I, for one, am very supportive of distributors who create those hoops. They protect me from those who would circumvent the system and put my retail shop out of business. Bottom line, that's what it's ...

I HAVE TAKEN ABOUT 8 OR 9 COURSES AT ARROWMONT OVER A DOZEN YEARS AND HAVE THROUGHLY ENJOYED EVERYONE. GREAT PLACE TO GO AND LEARN IN A BEAUTIFUL SETTING. WONDERFUL TEACHERS. IF THAT IS NOT ENOUGH, IN MY OPINION, THE FOOD IS NOT ONLY GOOD, BUT HEALTHY. :D I WILL BE THERE FOR BRAD'S CLASS (JULY 7-11...

Since we've had this discussion several times on the board, how would one find the archives on it? I get messed up with search words to access the proper archive. I remember some very creative solutions were posted at the time. - Barbara

I agree with Bert's post completely. It's like...I don't consider myself an artist. (creative, yes; artist, no). So any further categorization is self-dictated and self-limiting. We're smart enough to bypass a post that doesn't interest us, and smart enough to know where we can learn (and teach) als...

When we taught stained glass, I also asked (politically incorrect though it may be) if any of our female students were pregnant. Due the the chemical risks, I refused to teach a pregnant lady. I lost a few people then...However, most of them returned later. I also heard that other schools were not i...

Arrowmont is fabulous. Being able to stay on campus the whole time means a lot. My husband & I took classes there many years ago--from Albinus Elskus and Kenneth von Rohan, and a fusing course from someone I have never heard of since. Our own beloved leader, Brad, is also teaching there the foll...

Who's going to Arrowmont?

I'm not sure where to post this question, but who on the board is going to Arrowmont (Gatlinburg TN) in July for Brock and Avery's 2-WEEK course?? I would love to connect with anyone attending. I'm most excited, with a tinge of angst also...in that I have not taken a class in over 20 years. Being se...

You have no idea what I would like to say here, but I can't make a public forum out of the details. Let's just say that my product is in the dealer's showroom, but I am not receiving any orders from them. And I'm not sure where all the dealers are.- Barbara

I can add my name to the aggravatingly long list of those wronged. Without going into detail on the public board (email me off-board if you can help), I would like to know if any of you have seen my tile work in tile showrooms in your area. You know the lines (I hope): Block Party, Nuggets, Cassandr...

Another option, since I think you have MS Office, then you also have Access. Access is a "list type" program. I don't use it, but the few times I got into it, it has some interesting features for organizing a mailing list. - Barbara

Stacey, is there a reason you are not using 1/4" on the bottom also? The glass *may* not be compatible. Otherwise, your schedule seems ok. Bert will probably chime in and give you more info. - Barbara

I would suggest forgetting the formula and just purchasing a castable refractory for furnaces. Cheap, doesn't shrink. Weighs a ton but lasts forever. - Barbara

Space Glass

I am certain this is the proper place to post this. We are participants in one of the most ancient, and yet the most futuristic medium there is. Prepare to be awed :o at what space experiments have discovered about glass. :!: (Also, be sure to check out the links, including Henry Halem's GlassNotes....

The best way to test the calibration on your pyrometer is use another pyrometer you know is true and compare their readings in the same firing to test the second one. Another method (if you don't have 2 pyrometers) is to use a firing cone and compare the bend temp with your pyrometer to make sure it...

My Paragon is a TFN-27, something like that. I checked the channels and found no pins anywhere. I was able, today, to stretch that element by hand and set it back in the groove, but it still wasn't seated properly and will probably escape again. The other elements seemed ok, but also no pins that I ...

Hi Darren. Thanks for replying. It's a mess, getting messier. It's been creeping out like that for a few weeks. You would think it was stretched enough to move it back into the channel, but more wire keeps coming out instead. Since it is a channel, there are no pins holding it in, that I can tell. A...
