need info aabout a foto.
Sometime ago, I saw a pic of a melt that was made using several holes in fiberboard for the glass to drip through.
Then the fiberboard was cut away leaving a whole bunch of "drips" that resembled a Banyan tree.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

All of the black that I have looked at was a deep purple.
You have to get a very thin piece to look through it.

Re: Recommendations for bench grinder?
Get a coarser grit belt.
Maybe something like a 50 or 60 grit.

Re: bottle glass frit - firing schedule
For fusing compatible art frit, make sure that your mold is prepped. I use ZYP coating from colour de verre. You can also use BE kiln wash. Then after you put in the frit, either/and/or, mound it in the center of the mold with the sides a little way FROM the mold. This will allow the frit to CLIMB u...

The only way that I know of, would be to cold work the bottom working all the way up tp a 1400 grit.

COE is NOT the only determining factor in determining the compatibility.

Also, you might want to weigh down the edges/corners with some kind of kiln furniture.
This will keep it from curling so much.

Re: Kiln Shelf
Because the paper fumes are trapped in the microscopic bubbles caused by the voids left by the coarse grinding head.
Kiln wash doesn't have any fumes to get trapped.

Re: Kiln Shelf
I don't know about the Primer, but to get around the murky edges, have you noticed that this only happens when you have a ground edge?
Either don't grind, or manually polish the edges before firing.
Use a very find grit to do the final grind and it should be fine.

Re: Firing Top and Sides, etc
I have a kiln with elements on all 4 sides and the top.
I have made a schedule for most all types of firings and so don't have to switch any elements.
Just leave them all on and adjust the firing schedule for the type of firing that I want.
