Has anyone out there tried putting a thin coating of mica on the surfaces of a casting mold for a pot casting? Mainly I am curious as to whether the mica will move with the flowing glass or will it form a fairly uniform outer coating.

I have done work very similar to wet on wet watercolor by sandblasting the glass first for tooth. Then load the sandblasted glass with water and start to paint on the enamels. The flow that I got was very similar to watercolor washes.

Thanks for the information. I was probably going on outdated information on the failure potential of ssr's. I had a friend have a relay in his controller fail many years ago. The kiln was white hot by the time he checked it. It kind of spooked me.

I have already gotten the type K connectors and type K extension wire. I am going to have a single length from the thermocouple to the controller. I am going to run some tests on a 25' run to make sure that the thermocouple is reading the same as with a much smaller run (5').
