I was visiting a site and saw a piece of stacked float shaped into a vase. I have seen these vessels before and always wondered how they got the color. Was it very pale colored float or what? anyway, I read the description and I stated that the mediun was float, adhesive and dye. Does anyone know ab...

powder coating ?

First, thanks Jackie and Lisa for responding to my queery on the pics page. Any way, I thought more people than myself would be interested in how to finish stands so I moved here. You mentioned powder coating in your response to my question on how to paint stands. Just what is powder coating and are...

tile saw comparison ?

Got a Tool Crib catalog and was looking over the tile saws. My budget is limited, as if everyone elses isn't, and i saw two saws I think I could handle. The first is a MK-170. It has a 1/3 hp. 5,500 rpm motor and can cut up to 2" thick tiles. The other is a Plasplug Master tiler wet saw. It has...

fiber board

Is the texture of fiberboard the same as a kiln shelf. I want to make a drop ring plate for an award and have never used fiberboard so I don't know what to expect as far as texture is concerned. Thanks Ann

Goodmorning sunshine, Is fine silver bezel wire the same as sterling wire used to wrap jewelry? What size is recommended? Flat or round? As you can see, I'm new at the fused pendant game and inquiring minds want to know. Ann

I can vouch for Dicks's stands. They are great and he is soooo fast. Ordered custom ,finishing communications on details on Sun and was notified they were shipped on Tues. Now if I could only produce glass that quickly I really have something going. Ann

everone loves glass

Hey guys I just wanted to share an ego booster for us all. I was in an airport and went to the concession counter for a bottled coke. They had run out of cold ones, so I left. About an hour later, it was a long layover, I went back to get something else and the girl asked if I had been there earlier...

Here it goes. Hope I can make this ? clear enough to understand. I got a syphon sandblast cabinet. Also purchased a 40lb pressure pot. Everything is ready to connect. The cabinet has a recepticle in the lower right hand cornor to receive the air supply from the compressor. It has one of those quick ...

Is it too good to be true?

Reading the morning paper, I came across an ad for a two day tool sale. It is a company that goes around to cities, sets up and sells reconditioned and new tools and then leaves. They had a 10 gal. sandblasting pressure pot for $98 and a 30"X 20" sandblast booth for $188. What do you think...

double sided texture

I am in the middle of a piece that has a heavy texture on one side and a heavy design element on the other. Well actually I've gotten the design element side fused and now I want to tack fuse texture to the other side. My question is can I lay the design element side onto a bed of plaster powder and...

I create strictly from an emotional level. I constuct from shapes ranging from well defined, angled borders to free form. It all boils down to what takes my breath away. I tend to me monochromatic in life but have forced myself to venture into color with glass. (forced is probably too strong) I love...
