Re: Signing work for Magless

Try the Harbor freight engraving pen. It has a small ball bit and works like a charm.

Re: Keeping the drains clear

I've got a Gleco and it is easy to install. After cleaning it out the first time, I realized how much good it really does. The swarf packs like concrete. It can really do a number on your plumbing.

Both pieces are beautiful. I am sure there are plenty of people out there who would love to have them in their menorah collection.

Bert,
For some reason (unknown to me) none of those services work on laptop or desktop.
Tried to get one for one of my businesses that accepted credit cards, and had to use an ipad.

Re: square up on straight talk

Straight Talk is another supplier of cell phone service. Same as verizon and AT&T etc. Prices are much better. Sharon has unlimited everything for $45 per month. Note: to get her on an Iphone, I had to outright buy the Iphone at the Apple store. Ran me about $500. That has paid back many times o...

We've been using it on Straight Talk for about a year on my wife's Iphone. Works beautifully.

HI Lynn,
Like the piece a lot. The light crackle is very interesting.

Experimenting times are my favorite. Enjoy the heck out of it

Re: Jewelry -stick and smooth, not melt

Okay, I will jump in here with a totally different look at the problem. First, since this is in the Jewelry section, I am assuming that the pieces are small (less than 2x2 inches) Schedule: AFAP to 1050°F hold 20 80 DPM to 1250 hold 25 AFAP to (top temp) hold 12 Off-Done (We crash to 900 twice) then...

Re: kiln adhesive paper

Doing my Glass cloisonne, I use 3M Spray adhesive on thinfire to keep the wire from moving around when laying it up. Worked fine. Easy to apply.

Re: Kiln recommendation?

It depends what you are going to fuse. As everyone said, go with the Square kilns. The Olympic 145gfe comes in a square version. The tradeoff on a 14 versus a 16 inch is fusing time. At 120 volt, 20 amps, the amount of heat put out is limited to what the line can put out. Thus the 16 will be slower ...

Re: flip and fire and decals

You cannot apply decals and then slump unless the decals are in an area that is not moving in the slump. Decals are quite thin and stretching them in the slump will ruin them. This is one time that you need to use "glass" decals in the final step. They mature low enough that you can fuse t...

Re: lettering fused into or onto glass

I have looked at decals made from both laser printer ceramic toner and screen printed enamels. The screen printed ones are far better than the laser printed ones. I think (with nothing to back it up but observation) that the laser enamels are diluted with come type of carrier. Screen printed enamels...

Re: MICR Printer owners

Gotta disagree with you Brad. I've used off brands for several different HP (6P, 1020, 1018) printers and they all work fine.
I believe the printing process for HPs is magnetic and need the iron in the toner to work...thus the no-names work fine.

You do not need flux for your approach.

Re: Screen printing TPI Question

Jen,
We have premixed vitreous enamels for screen printing (see our site for many examples) that mature starting at 730. The shipping to Oz is $16.95 for a set and I will throw in some flux to adjust the viscosity. If you are interested email me off the board.

Re: Avoid burning off enamels

Enamel is a word that has many meanings. Even vitreous enamels vary all over the map. If you do not know the specific enamel, the only way to determine the maturing temperature is to test. Once you determine the maturing temperature in your small kiln, you are most of the way to figuring out the tem...

Re: Screen printing TPI Question

Bert, I've done tons of experimenting with glycerine and several glycols and ethers, including Propylene glycol. I wish I had a mix that worked. But I still go back to A-14 (at a great sacrifice in $$). Could you share with us your mix ratios so we can try it out. My mixes would not dry due to the g...
