Re: Glass seperator an Colour DeVerre molds
I'd send your questions directly to the manufacturer. They're very helpful and responsive.

Re: Need help with Creative Ceramics medium rectangle mold
Have to agree with Don. Without seeing your mold, it appears that as the glass slumped, it trapped air which caused the bubble.

Re: Pre-firing Stringers
I guess you'd have to test for your kiln, but when I slump stringer, I fire afap to 1250° and hold until visually confirmed. If you're trying for a flat side, you'd probably have to fire a little hotter. I'd choose a temp to start with and monitor them. When they should be done, quickly remove one w...

Re: Irid
AAE Glass is selling a product called Glass Glo paints. They appear to be a dry mica cake that you can wet with water or other mediums. There's a video right now showing that they product an irid-like coating. The nice thing is, they're mixable. https://www.aaeglass.com/catalogsearch/result/?cat=0&a...

Re: Airbrushing Problems with Bullseye Color Line
Thanks for that, Carol! Obviously, I misunderstood.
I always fire my kilns with the peep holes open during the entire firing, so haven't noticed any difference with the reds. I haven't worked with Colorline extensively, though.
Here's my test piece:

Linda, I'm not sure what you mean. When I click on that link, it takes me to Colorline's pdf instruction book. If the link is giving you a warning, you may just want to do a Google search for their site.

In my test samples, thicker applications would tend to crackle a bit.
How fast/hot are you firing?

Re: ripple dichro - how to cap without bubbles?
I make sure to press firmly with my cutter when cutting thicker glass, and always dip in cutting oil first. It takes a bit more strength to squeeze my running pliers for thicker glass. I have heavy duty running pliers but don't use them; they've got metal jaws which aren't covered with rubber, so I ...

Re: soap dish/molds
If you slow those ramps down, your glass will experience more heatwork and less funky stretching. Think of gently guiding the glass into the mold. I slump at 250° per hour. There's no reason for your hold at 1100°.

Re: ripple dichro - how to cap without bubbles?
When I was making lots of jewelry from larger tiles, I always cut them by hand. You easily cut 2-3 layers and with a little more effort 4 layers by hand. Since you're grinding and fire polishing anyway, it makes it much faster than dragging out the saw.

Re: ripple dichro - how to cap without bubbles?
When I was doing jewelry with rippled dichro, I'd make larger tiles to cut down. A 6x6" piece in my kilns, with a clear cap, would look something like this: 300° to 1150°, no hold 50° to 1250°, hold 60 300° to 1440°, hold 15 (or until visually confirmed) full to 900°, hold 60 I have several kil...

Re: Second fuse??
Some dichroic glass is just rougher after being fired. Some will splinter and tiny pieces will pop off and deposit elsewhere on your glass. Some fires satiny smooth. Some crackles. My guess is you've got glass from different manufacturers and different coatings. I see that a few of your sizzle stick...

We hit 100° today. I ran two of my kilns simultaneously. Now and then we'll have brownouts if everyone's running their AC but hasn't happened this year.

I've have limited knowledge of MR-97 but the few times I used it I had the same problem. Turns out, it's from too much sprayed on.

Re: spray kiln shelf
I've done several things over the years, trying to find the easiest way to deal with shelves. First, I used a paint roller to apply wash. After dry, I'd lightly 'sand' it with a piece of smooth printer paper. Then, I used the garden sprayer approach. That leaves fairly large blobs and splatters, so ...
