Re: Leponitt Heavy duty pliers - no plastic - do they work?

Thanks Dick and Jim. Will try to find that in Australia. Actually I found it, but the postage more than doubles the cost of the tin. Got in contact with them but no reply, so I have to find another dealer. It looks like a product that would be useful in any workshop. Many thanks again and best regar...

Canadian source: http://www.hitechglazing.com/catalog/40229 Pricing in Canadian and Us Dollars. Check which one you want Hi Kevin, Many thanks for the address. I managed to find them in Australia for the equivalent price, when taking the overseas shipping cost into account. This is a rare event. It...

Re: Leponitt Heavy duty pliers - no plastic - do they work?

I mostly cut 10mm or 6mm glasses. I have 2 pairs of running pliers, one like the Leponit (when I bought them a long time ago, they were called PPG running pliers, and cost more), and Toyo heavy glass running pliers. I use the Toyos for every cut over 2" wide. I use the steel ones for 1" w...

Leponitt Heavy duty pliers - no plastic - do they work?

Hi, I am thinking to get the Leponitt heavy duty pliers http://shop.bullseyeglass.com/leponitt-heavy-duty-running-pliers.html Wonder if anyone is using them? The basic running pliers always have those little plastic sleeves and the recommendation seems to be to replace them when metal is showing thr...

Re: Spray A

Bert, Sometime ago, I think you mentioned using the Paasche 62 for shelf primer. Does it have any kind of material control other than the viscosity of the material and/or air pressure? I've looked at pictures of the Critter Gun, it looks like the little tip screws up and down. Does anyone know if y...

Re: Spray A

For my borax solution I suck it from the bottle with an eye dropper (to avoid stirring the sediment at the bottom). Drop a few lines of borax onto the glass and spread it with my finger. No finger marks because the finger is sliding on top of the borax, not touching the glass. Read about this method...

Re: how to alter firing to avoid devit

Dear Bert and Kevin Thank you for your replies, and sorry for the long delay to post, the work load at this time of the year has been a bit overwhelming. The devit is truly devit, in this case it is not compression. The molds are really shallow, BE 8997 in 3 sizes. Also the appearance is of devit, t...

how to alter firing to avoid devit

Hi, I am fusing 2 layers of 1/8" float, with paint and inclusions in-between the layers. After months and months of endless tests and frustrations, have finally worked out a firing schedule where the inclusions don't cause any mayor bubbles, and the edges of the plates are acceptably rounded. T...

Re: How do i know if I've applied enough kiln wash?

hi i add red food coloring to my kiln wash (spray it on shelves and molds). Brand is Queen, buy it in the supermarket (i live in Australia) tried also natural cochineal food coloring, both work very well. sometimes when i spray, if it looks a bit powdery, i rub it flat with my finger tips. this has ...

Re: fastest - but safe - annealing for float 2 layers

I don't think in this type of kiln stacking shelves would be workable. The manufacturer's website gives the following limitation: ' It should be noted that the GTS 2541 is designed to fire a single layer or shelf. The nature of the GTS 2541 is to provide heat from the lid elements directly to the s...

Re: mold like this but in 4"

Seachange, is it worthwhile having them fabricated in stainless and creating a foot with a circle of fibre paper if it can't be incorporated? They'd be bullet-proof and last forever. Dunno if that's practical, just thinking out loud. Jen Hi Buttercup, Great thinking, yes, possibly very worthwhile. ...

Re: fastest - but safe - annealing for float 2 layers

I worry about spending too much time in anneal cycles. There used to be a notion that this is impossible. However, think about it. If your kiln has uneven temperatures in it, the longer you hold your glass in an uneven place, the more it will resemble that space. If that difference is greater than ...

...which seems to me to be another odd size...may be there are good reasons for this Bullseye molds are made in metric sizes, then converted to inches. That's why the sizes can be odd. Some of them measure the bottom instead of the top as well. Many thanks Brad, The strange thing is that the 8998 m...
