Re: A couple new pieces

These are fantastic! Really, really like! I especially like the creative way you have come up with to frame the pieces. Very well done!

Re: my 2 young birds

I actually like the way the birds appear as if they are morphing into their shapes, especially the mother bird. It's a theme I can relate to as a mother bird ;) Perhaps you could continue with the morphing/transitioning/emerging theme? How true it is of each artist in their journeys! Best wishes in ...

Re: Indiegogo?

Good idea Valerie... I ended up having good luck recently shopping at Ikea of all places! They had white plastic cafeteria trays for .99 cents each. That will function well as a work zone for each student. Ikea also had small white bathroom rugs with gripper surface on the bottom for $1.99 each. I l...

Lovely work Mel! Thank you for sharing your insights...I really liked your bleeding hearts on your website. Very pretty! They have some of the colors I was seeking in this example.

Re: Indiegogo?

I appreciate the great ideas shared. Thanks! Love the auction idea.

Any thoughts on glass cutting surfaces? I prefer the Morton waffle grid however that adds up fast for 6 - 12 students. I wonder how carpet squares with a short, tight pile might work until I can splurge on the real deal?

Indiegogo?

Recently I had the opportunity to introduce fused glass mini-course to a group of (12) 5th & 6th graders at my daughters school. The class was a huge hit and the kids genuinely loved it! It was a great deal of hard work on my part dragging materials into the school and bringing the projects home...

I also wrote about my first experience using these decals for the 2013 Magless exchange. Entry # 21. http://www.warmglass.com/magnet/2013%20 ... 040113.pdf

It's definitely an excellent gift giving idea!

Book Donations Requested

From an email from MCGAG President: Jan Mirenda Smith, Executive Director of the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum, in Neenah Wisconsin, is working on designs for a memorial library to create a study/reading room for visitors that is devoted to glass. Their current holdings are slim on studio glass books. The...

Re: Using glass in children's projects

I have recently been invited to introduce a glassy project to a Middle School "Art Club" through a local school district. I have put off getting business insurance but am thinking that it would be critically important to have some in place before teaching kids. I'm quite paranoid about all...

Re: Using glass in children's projects

My heart is moving in the direction of teaching children as well and I have come across some great resources for ideas out there: http://www.bergstrom-mahlermuseum.com/index.php/learn-a-explore/educators.html https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/kidsandglass/ http://www.brazeestreetstudios.com/home/cl...

Re: 2013 Magnet Exchange How Tos

Thank you Jennifer for taking ALL that time to sift through ALL those emails to compile the "How to's" for this years exchange. It was a pleasure participating! After I submitted my "How to" description, I ended up making some subtle tweaks and posted about the experience on my b...
