Re: Fiber compared to kiln wash

Also, you might want to vacuum your brick kiln before firing.
I have noticed a great improvement in the surface of my glass since I have been doing this.

Re: Old plaster

If it is still in a powder form, there is absolutely no reason not to use it.
It is an inorganic compound so there is no expiration date.

Re: Tall skinny vases- stability - how to display in gallery

another way that I have used in the past is to display them laying down.
They don't need to be standing up to be art.

Re: drop vases - color density problems

Here you go, (I hope)
I don't know if you can see, but there is absolutely NO cold working involved.
3 layers of glass with strips and frit between 1st and 2nd layers.

Re: drop vases - color density problems

HI Seachange.
That firing schedule is the one that I gave to Brad.

Simultaneous tack fusing and drop ring slumping
I HAVE A PIC SOMEWHERE OF ONE THAT HAS BEEN FIRED USING THIS SCHEDULE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
The other Jim.

Ps sorry about the caps.

Re: cooking in the kiln

I know this has probably been covered, but I can't find it.
I have a bowl that slumped way off center and I would like to flatten it.
Should I go with the opening up or down?
Thanks in advance

Re: The load bearing capacity of glass - to bear its own weight

All I can think of right now is that a lot will depend on the area of the support piece that is in contact with the lower side of the glass. If it is very small, it will not hold as much as if it is larger. I know that isn't much help./ You might do a search on the "shear pressure" of glas...

Main thing is to use the proper gas mix, and work way out in the flame.

Tony.
By "contamination" I assume that you mean the tin left by the float process.

healing a broken piece of glas.

I would like to know how to eliminate/minimize a break.
I have a piece of BE that broke and I still want to use to make a bowl.
Should the break be put on the top or the bottom of the 2 layer stack for the fusing?
Thanks

The side that has the label is the "top" side.
