Soak it in just under boiling water. It should come right off. Acetone should remove any remaining residue.

There's a free Bullseye app for iPhone (maybe other phones as well) that will give the the amount of glass you need. You pick the shape, put in the dimensions, and it calculates the amount of glass you need. It's found under "Tools" on the app.

I've used fine silver to do that. I prop 1/8 inch thick fiber blanket under the bottom of wire to keep it from bending down. The silver shines up nicely after firing.

I, too, use E6000. I've never cared for the odor so tried other products until one odorless one put me in the hospital for two days. Awhile back I searched for a solution to this issue and came across a recommendation to coat the copper with Clear glass paint to keep the copper color. Unique makes it; I don't know if others do as well. I've never tried it. If you do, please report back and let us know. Thanks.
