Re: Help- fusers of LARGER (over 2’) pieces

In have a Genesis and fire in it daily although only occasionally that large. But.....I would think it would be close to my 23" x 23" pieces......2 layer with some elements fused...... I anneal a piece that size 2 hours, 100 to 850 hold 30, 100 to 700 and off. My top temp for a full fuse i...

Re: Opal Art & Devit?

I believe your problem is from going too slow at the top. My bubble squeeze program holds at 1250 and then fast to my finish temp. You are going too slow to 1300 which is where devit forms. I do not know how your piece is built.....but My schedule would look more like this.... 300 to 1100 hold 30 50...

Re: Devit

If you have a glass that is not necessarily used for fusing and is prone to devit I would use a super spray or sprinkle clear powder on the surface before firing.

Re: Multiple Shelves

One of my large kilns is a skutt gm 1227. In it I load up 5 or 6 layers in a firing. It is only side fired and is an incredible kiln for production. That being said I pick and choose what I fire in it because I have 6 kilns all with different abilities and strengths. When I layer in my tall skutt I ...

What a shame. Such a cute bowl. It obviously happened on the way up. What as your schedule? What kind of kiln. Knowing that is the only way we can help!

Re: what would happen if

Another way to use up clear scrap......we pile it into a stainless steel ring (with 1/8" fiber paper lining it) and add colored scrap randomly throughout and make "scrap melts". Use a good bubble squeeze schedule. The stainless steel rings are only 1" deep so they will fit any ki...

Re: Shaping using grinder leaves marks

Be sure to finish all of your grinding with a fine bit.....not rough. Also scrub it
well before fusing. Never let it dry between grinding and cleaning.

If you go into your photo program on your computer it is usually easy to downsize pics so they will post here.

Re: Scheduling question

2 questions

Is the base 2 layers of glass? That will determine how hot you can take it for the look
you want.

Do you want the berries etc to fuse fully or remain raised?

Re: compression mark in small handkerchief bowl

What i was saying was a circle of fiber board with a circle of thin fire on top. That way the thin fire turns to dust....no digging out the board.....use it over and over
Sorry if i was not clear. Been out of wack for a few days with a bad case of poison
oak!!

Re: Please help with shedule

R 300 T 300 H 10 (this hold does nothing)
R 300 T 1410 H Till desired effect (checking at 1400)
R 9999 T 900 H 30 (I would anneal for 60 min....also the anneal for 96 is 960)
R 200 T 800 H 10
R 300 T 100 H 0 (no need....off at 800)

just what I would do

Re: Please help with shedule

Vicki.....
I would fire this to aroung 1410 in my kiln. Any higher and you will have problems with your single layer wanting to pull in. You will need to anneal well since there will be a difference in thicknesses.
