I have noticed that Spectrum does seem to pick up more kiln wash than other glasses. Putting the iridized side down does help (as mentioned above).
Good luck,

It worked for me. Cool stuff. It looked as if Black1 had the best effects of glass and copper, and the brown were as cool as you stated. Is the surface a gloss or matte finish, and will you wire-wrap them?

Tami C.

I honestly did NOT want to teach the class. So, I fixed the rates as high (and reasonable, I thought) as possible.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, the students get to keep their supplies. And, yes, doing it all in a 4-8 hour time limit will be tough, but the classes will be in a neighboring town, several hours away, and the guy who approached me with this whole idea stated that he wanted something that would la...

Advice needed for me teaching a class

Ok, please endure me. I know this is more of a stained glass question, but I have been asked to teach a stained glass class, and you guys are the most knowledgeable (and glass is glass), so I thought I'd post it here. Here's the options I sent to the guy who sent me the request: ____________________...

Oh, and I had a lady trade me a plane ticket for a large work. So, I flew my mom down for Thanksgiving.

This is only my second year at selling my art. Last year, I would sell one large item a week, and several (10 to 20) small items, but this year I have sold one large item a month, and 20-25 small items.

My jewelry and my smallest suncatchers seem to be my best selling works.

Thank you for your replies.

I already made my first pattern bar (1/4" thick), and tried the method I described above with very ragged results. But, $50 or $70 isn't too bad for a tile saw.

Thanks again,

Low Tech Pattern Bar Cutting?

Before I blow a wad of cash on a tile saw (I really want one, but with 3 kids, food is kinda important in our lives), is there a low tech way to cut pattern bar? I don't really care if the cut is perfect and clean. I read how the old bead makers would make a milifloral cane, score a slice, rest the ...

Judy Schnabel, This process works with Skyy Blue Vodka? Their little bottle, the six pack of Skyy Blue, are a BUGGER to remove labels from. I've tried lighter fluid, and it does not even begin to remove all the goo. Charlie, I've fired a few small (very small) pieces with a little goo on them still....

I think it was Menkel who called Arkansas the, "Sahara of the Bozarks." I just did a craft fair in Pine Bluff. The guy across from me was selling imports from China. Behind him was a lady who pained empty Crisco oil containers to look like pigs for piggy banks. It was NOT a great craft fai...

I was feeling quite alone here in Arkansas, and now I know why.

I've had the opposite experience. I'm a man and I make jewelry women like to buy. Go figure. Back when I was MUCH younger, I made punk-rock type jewelry. Men like the same thing as women, except: 1) they like short necklaces 2) pendants are ok, but not too big, 3) they don't like pink, or most paste...

Patricia O'Neill I had another friend who was a male exotic dancer. One night, after a gig, he felt uncomfortable. After reaching into the back of his pants, he found a crisp not-so-clean five dollar bill. Judd P.S. My wife and I sold this guy our old car. We did wash our hands after the transaction.

I sell my glass at a local Artists Market. My neighbor who sells jewelry has a sign that reads, "Do not try on the toe rings." So, so nasty. Also, Dolores, we had a guy like the one you described. He not only allowed his customers to try on the jewelry, but offered free piercing to all his...

Titled Works

Catharine Like you, I also keep my titles vague. Only if the work has some obvious feature/action do I label it such. However, my works deal more with light, color, and patterns than actually representing objects. Brock I meet most of my buyers face-to-face. They seem to like the interaction. The id...
