clip Customer needs this sample today clip do I need to worry about thermal shock on something this thin? I don't like having to baby sit it. It is SO different from the big boys! Thanks This will be interesting. Will she turn it on high and risk breaking the piece to get the job out today, or will...

I thought that might be the problem. I can't believe I didn't get any texture either. In my big boys, I can do it at such lower temps. Also, can't I just turn it on 'high' to do this or do I need to worry about thermal shock on something this thin? I don't like having to baby sit it. It is SO differ...

Small Evenheat/temp for texture
I need answer fairly quickly....I have no experience in using such a small thing. (my ovens are 5' x 10') All I am trying to do is pick up a slight texture on a 4"x4" x 1/8" tile without disturbing the surface decoration (pearlx design, I think). I have it sitting on the rough side of...

Int'l orders
For what it's worth,
all international orders are handled via wire transfer, ship only after receiveing confirmation from YOUR bank.
(If they don't have a bank account, don't sell to them)
No worries.

Clear glass
FYI- was just reading in Dec. issue of Glass Magazine about 'low-iron glass' by Guardian Industries Corp. "...introducing UltraWhite low-iron glass, a clear, high visible-light transmission glass.... UltraWhite's colorless appearance makes it applicable in a variety of commercial and residentia...

Speaking of putting in applications, are your chances better if you say, complete 5 different applications and send in $$ for each one? In other words, If you applied and listed 3 choices, then applied again listing some of the same choices (additional $$) then applied again listing different choice...

Welcome!
There was a discussion on this exact subject just a week or two ago. Do a 'search' in the archives or scroll down a few pages until you see it. I didn't pay a lot of attention to the thread but it seems they discussed a lot of different brands, uses, etc.
Good luck!

Steve @ Vitrum
Thanks Catharine. That sounds just like what I am looking for. I remember reading about it in the classifieds section and wondering how I could justify the airfare and hotel for a one day course. I might have to wait until I find something similar on the West Coast. I check the 'courses' section oft...

Cock trip
Pat, Of course the women are responding. What woman could resist the thought of all those cocks jumping into the canyon. Should be quite a show! (I'm imagining free falling cocks everywhere. But then I wonder what they will look like after 5 days in the water) Maybe the Hen Party c...

drop ship
Patricia, Depending on the type of items you make (one-of-a-kind vs. 'production' pieces) it can sometimes be a problem to drop ship. Things to consider: 1) If your items are one-of-kind and the 'end user' has only seen a similar item and not the actual piece you are sending, you might end up with a...

LA Visit
Hi Cindy, I sent you an email but that was before I read all this info......I wanna go with you when you go exploring!! Even though I work in LA (I live in the valley where it is 10-15 degrees hotter than metro LA)- I don't get out and about all that much so drop me a line and we'll plan something. ...

Mold recipe
Jianu, I don't think you need to bribe anyone for their mold recipes (although, I am sure many would love to recieve one of your pieces!!) . Look in the Kiln Casting forum for lots of discussion on recipes for molds. I am sure one of the casters will be more than helpful. I don't cast glass myself, ...

Paul, I think I would slump the two pieces of glass (one stacked on top of another with a seperator between them) at the same time, thus insuring they are an exact fit. I think one piece would have to be slightly larger than the other so that the edges matched up when slumped (if that was important ...

I am probably in a slightly different situation than most because I don't work from my house, so I don't know if this is helpful to answering your question. We have 5 big kilns that are on a delay timer. They are set to run only at night (cheaper electricity rates). We also want to make sure there i...
