Re: Spectrum 96 nuggets/ bubbles
The nuggets are typically furnace glass for blowing (and obviously some furnace castings.) The suggested temps are (right off of Spectrum's website): Studio Nuggets: Melting Guidelines Melt at 2200ºF (1204ºC) in 25 pound charges. Wait until surface has leveled off, then charge again. Soak at 2100º t...

Just keep in mind that offset printing inks (at least when printing process) are transparent.

If you don't mind me asking, what did the elements cost? Did you do it yourself?
If you come up with a solution, I would love to know what you come up with...
Thanks,

Re: Wine Bottle -Frank Family Vineyards
If you can, scratch it in a discreet place (such as the back), with the edge of a key. If it comes off, it is enamel and will burn off without question. If the color is below the surface, it was etched first, and then color filled. Again, most likely with enamels... The only 2 cents I can add. - At ...

Go to Barry Kaiser's website. He has a very clear tutorial on it.

Almost all the precious metals melt at a higher point than you would be working at. *Gold 1950F *Silver 1761F *Silver coins 1615F *Copper 1981F *http://www.kitco.com/jewelry/meltingpoints.html You could probably easily accomplish what you want to do by doing it cold. 3 layers (hole for the coin in t...

Re: Tile saws for cutting glass
Why don't you do a simple search of the board?
I would bet there are more threads on this topic than on if you should you a lubricant when cutting glass.
Or for that matter on the question of the ages "should I use Bullseye or System 96?"
C'mon be adventurous, live a little.

Re: White decal or other images
Bert's "make your own flash glass "suggestion would be the first choice (here.) But that being said a simple screen printing of it would work great also. Barry Kaiser sells everything you need to do it and his support is VERY good. And considering what you are doing, you won't need to make...

Re: Using strofoam as a mold
You may have seen someone making models to make molds.
You can sculpt foam, and then seal it. You would then use that to make casting or slumping molds.
You can go to http://www.sculpt.com/ and look at stryofoam, and foam sealers to see what I am talking about.

Re: Undo UV connection
The adhesive we use breaks down at about 350.
I put it in a convection over, bring it up at about 100 degrees per hour, grab it with oven mitts and it usually comes apart pretty easily.
Then I clean it up with razor blade and rubbing alcohol.

Re: Watlow 982: How do you program this darn thing?
Hi- If you have the manual (watlow981_982.pdf) which is available for download, chapter 7 is how to program. There is a specific example on page 9 (7.9), and runs from 7.9-7.11 If you need the file, email me and I can send it to you. "Everyone" says that this is a pretty easy to program co...

Re: Recommendations for Wall Mounted Glass Cutter
Linda- I've only known one person who had one, and she/they hated it. (In fact it is now sitting on the floor, in the corner, of my shop.) She owns a "make your own glass studio" and it didn't work for them at all. I am sure she would be more than happy to talk to you, she is very intellig...
