It's true, you can tie yourself in knots with legal stuff or just do them a favour and exchange for a similar value item with no quibble. But pay back the cash doesn't work -nor does 'I was already drunk at the time'. If they were able pay and walk off with it he knew what was going on! Having been ...

Are you using only 1 layer of glass? Most people commonly use a solid piece of glass for the bottom layer and then put the design pieces on top. Yes, you need to cut precisely and have the edges touching to get the edges to fuse together. and some people put the design elements on the bottom with a...

Re: clearcap sandblasted ?

What would you get if you clear capped a sandblasted section of a blank? Would you get a sandblasted look under a shiney surface or would it look like a ground edge that didn't smooth out or would you lose the sandblasting effect totally? All of what Tony said Ann. I use 180 grit AlOx, it works ver...

I used the cone that my dog had around his head to keep him from biting a wound- it's thick translucent plastic. Must have taken a lot of trys, keeping the dog still long enough to take a picture?! :) Good work Roma, it looks good and the findings compliment the glass nicely. I think it was my lear...

Re: simple pricing of small cabs

Good mOrning Everyone - I had a request from a local business who teaches PMC classes for a pricelist for some simple cabs. They want them approximately 5mm, 10mm and 15 mm. I don't want to go through a fancy pricing formula to derive this number. Mostly I am just interested in finding out what oth...

Re: Please help with question about split fiber paper!!!

Hi, I have a quick question please. I have been using the thin fire paper under my projects with no problem until today. I just made a 16" circle design to now slump into a bowl. During the firing the fiber paper split underneath and now you can see the design of the split on the piece. When I...

Re: Technique Ownership - A Question of Ethics

What about the perspective of the teachers? I'm sure that if someone were to teach a class only to see a student copying their work and competing with them on the teaching circuit there would be hard feelings... or not, I'm not sure. Tony Hope I die before I get old, but before I do; my heart would...

One hour from full fuse to annealing point sounds like it's holding a lot of heat. I've got brick kilns that cool way faster than that. Perhaps I over-insulated then; too much and it won't cool, too little and it would take a lot of current, even on the annealing ramp. Must be within that fine bala...

Paul – Great looking kiln. You did a really good job. Is it 220 volts? I am not sure what 8 units of electricity would equal in terms of kilowatt hours, is it a strait conversion? Thanks Gil Thanks. Yes, 220. @ 8 pence per unit it is cheap to run. Maybe 2US$ for a full fuse. The hearth is brick f...

Re: Making Itty Bitty Drop Molds?

I'm a jeweler and want to make some very small 3/4" drop molds in various shapes. I'm metal literate and since it is flat, cuts nicely I'm hoping I can make some outta silver, copper, or brass. I will kiln wash them before I put the glass on them. I choose these as I have them and tools that w...

They look great, I can see only one bubble, well done.

The edges that aren't joined properly (top right picture, bottom left item); maybe the top cap could have been a lee bit bigger. So when it dropped down and fused to the base, there would be enough material to give a nice radius.

Ho Colin, It's already Tuesday where you are but I returned here (my home town) five years ago, after 24years abroad, it wasn't so sunny when I left (that's why I left!) but when I came back it seems the Belizean sunshine followed me. Modest -yes, I know. Like you mentioned in the other thread Colin...
