Gold pendant, silver posts?

I always ask about the pad if it is not listed exactly what it is.

is the sterling 6mm flat pad earring, they don't say they are plated brass on the first page but if you click on the description to go to the next page http://www.firemountaingems.com/details ... =H201653FN
They say the pad is brass and plated to match.
But if you were to read a description that says only, "sterling silver post" ,or "sterling silver padded post" could that mean that the pad and back (if included) could be something else?
I have asked Nile Corp and Jewelry Supply within the last year and they both replied that theirs are sterling silver pads with the sterling posts.
I like Fire Mountain, but wish they would carry the sterling pad.
Are gold filled items something many people are allergic to also?

I'd call Fire Mountain up and ask them to really clarify this.
I've never had a problem with gold filled posts, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
