Fusing Bullseye dichroic highlight - any tips?

Post by kimberley »

Hi

I am doing a Bullseye fused plate and I want to put a strip of orange dicroich across the top of it. I haven't used dichroic before and the plates are a gift so I want to get it right.

Any tips for firing? I don't relly want to do a clear cap, but wonder if this is necessary?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers
Kimberley

I would contact the manufacturer of the glass and ask the question about food safety. Depending upon the product, there may be heavy metals that are not necessarily food safe.

To be on the "safe side", I typically cap irids and dichro if the piece could be used for food.

I often fuse dichro without a cap. it looks wonderful! depending on what you use you can get really interesting texture. I would not use it for eating, only a decorative plate.
