fabric art video

This forum focuses on the artistic "why" and "what" more than the technical "how". Put more philosophical (but still art and glass related) posts here.

fabric art video

Post by JestersBaubles »

I am sharing this video for two reasons. First, the artist, Lucy Peterson Watkins (a friend), does lovely work, and second, it's a nice idea for representing your artwork.

To create these fiber art paintings, first she photographs the scene, and then she transfers the photograph to silk. Next, she applies color to the silk. Finally she quilt the piece. I've not seen anyone else who does this technique, though I'm sure there are others.

I just thought you might appreciate the beautiful images.

Beautiful work! A great eye for color and detail. I'm intrigued by the way she uses stitching to indicate elements that are not otherwise represented by color - particularly clouds. Thanks for posting.
