I've been doing a lot more cold working to my work, now that I have the "toys" to allow me to do so. I've also discovered that my hands are a disaster area. Being a guy (ARH, ARH, ARH) I'm not suppose to care about those things but lately the skin on my hands is so dry that my finger tips are literally cracking open with cuts simply from being too dry. I've gone to using the cheap disposable gloves a whole lot more and me and my Cornhuskers Lotion are becoming closer friends.

I'm just curious as to how others help relieve or at least maybe keep the dryness at bay.

The way 2 get 2 solving a problem is often not 2 think about it, but something else entirely

It is difficult 'in the problem' it kinda stifles U in2 a solution

So try n think away from it

Utalize Cheetin Technology n B sneaky

Do U need 2 grind so much

Since we started grinding I have made it my lifes work 2 avoid it

In fact my lifes work is 2 do little work of any kind

What took 1 week 20 years ago now takes approximately 1/2 to 1 day now

n quality is up

The technology responsibble I have discussed here often in brief it is

Gum Arabic with the body stain - stops stray colour

Better cutting of the glass

Better set up

Squash en Up tm - Flatter glass ( very recent )

Better sawing of the glass

Diomond wheels - faster cleaner

Seting up holders on the flat bed - so can leave glass while grind something else

Just finished sorting out tumble finishing the smaller pebbles ( very recent )

Enshuring flat bed is flat

Use of reciprolaps - enshuring lap flat

I dont do any job 4 long

I wear wrist guards which protect my wrists

There is a lot of other stuff some of it very subtle

I spend much of my time sorting stuff out

Some of it realy has on going developments

The tumbling has been some 25 years 2 sort

I am realy big on

Ergo n Go tm

another thing you might try is "Corona" cream that is used to treat cracked horse hooves- you get it at the pharmacy counter, but it's not prescription. Not to be mistaken for Corona with lime, although after a few of those, you might not care too much about your hands :D

I too was having trouble with split skin on the ends of my fingers. My hubby convinced me to get a lava stone from Walmart, and to sand the fingertips while wet. I'd tried all kinds of lotion with gloves on overnight, and that didn't work for me. This works well, as I continue to "work my fingers down to the bone"! Lynn Bishop
