graphite

I am looking for a resource for graphite.
Does anyone know of a place in the Northeast? I wanted to try it.
Also had a question about keeping holes open in jewelry when firing---Okay --dumb question ---(I know about fiber products) Can I use mechanical pencil "lead" for this? Anyone ever tried this?
Lots of thanks!

I've used a graphite pad , loved the first few times and hated them, they start to pit and leave a mess. I've used powdered graphite as a shelf release and hated the mess. I stay away from graphite. MESSY.
