size of kiln and doorway

Post by Gabriel »

I am considering purchasing a Skutt GM1414. I have not been able to find exterior dimensions. Does anyone know if it will fit through a 28" door opening or can the kiln be completely disassembled and rebuilt?

http://www.scutt.com, phone number listed on site. Remember it will come in a much larger crate, you'll have to uncrate it outside.

Thier web site says it's internal dim. 41.5x24.5x13.5 deep. 13.5 inches deep plus 4 in bottom brick thickness plus 4 in lid thickness gives you about 21.5 inches tall. Call it 22 to 23 inches tall so you could turn it on end and get it through a door. The kiln weighs ~241 pounds, so you'll need help moving it. The stand is not attached and you'll have to assemble it and set the kiln on it.

Just to be sure ask before you place the order.

Hi Gabriel:

I have the Skutt GM1414. With electronics, handles and other exterior attached items, the exterior dimensions are: 53 L x 36" D x 20" H. This doesn't include the two stands that comes with the GM1414.

My husband and I just moved this kiln from outside (I live in Arizona) to my garage workshop (because of weather conditions). We moved it easily on a hand truck. Then it definitely took two of us to place it back on the stands.

Just unscrew some of the external bits like handles or whatnot & take off the lid. That's what we did when my 1414 didn't quite fit in the freight elevator.
