Where can I find this?

Post by smallbitz »

I absolutely LOVE this base! I've seen it on other semi/circular/rectangular projects and would love to find out where to obtain them. I thought they were hand crafted, but I have seen the same one on several different artists' work. Sure would appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction!

Have you tried contacting the artist whose work you posted?

Why not just do a circle and cut in in half? If you want it thicker you could use those SS Rings to dam and then cut?

It's actually a photo of a menorah a friend just brought back from Israel, and I have no idea who the artist is - I certainly would have given credit if I new who did such a beautiful piece of work.

S.T. - I'm interested in the base of the menorah. Can't seem to find anything like it. Thanks, though!

i like that stand as well. i think i will make some examples out of pvc pipe and then see what my metal guys will charge to make them out of aluminum. that could also be made from wood fairly easily. i am going to explore that as well. rosanna

Yes. Simple, modern clean and doesn't take away from the art at all. That what I really like about it.

You could do it out of tubing but it might be easier to take flat stock and cut a rectangular notch in the center (easy job for a machine shop), then bend it.

We do have some Israelis on the board and the fusing community there is small, so one of them might recognize it.

i think tubing would be way easier. perfectly round, work hardened. cut ring off tube, cut ring in half, run halfs across a dado blade in a table saw, clean up edges. bending a perfect semi circle is hard. hmm. probably be easier to dado two slots into the the whole ring and then cut in hald. more to hold onto. rosanna

This could also be made out of strips of glass fused and slumped over a 1/2 circle
