Pearl 22 - lid removal?

Hi, I am receiving a Paragon Pearl 22 kiln tomorrow. Does anyone know if its possible, or how easy it is (for my mechanically inclined husband) to remove the lid to make it lighter to lift up on to my table? He changed the pneumatic thing in my trunk recently, so I hope these skills might also apply to my kiln.
