Just looked at a used Somaca belt sander. It's in my neighborhood, so no shipping costs. works good, good water system, needs no work. some rust. owner's not sure of the age. She asked $1400 for it, says she bought it 2 years ago for $1600. Says she doesn't thing she can go below $1200. (I offered her $1000 cash.)

Paid $250 for mine. Cleaned it and painted it.

I know of one (at least as of a few weeks ago) that the guy is asking $275 for.

Needs a good cleaning and I didn't see it run, but he swears it runs perfectly.

Problem is shipping would be a killer.

I would price shipping, as it is not as bad as you think. I shipped a 4'x4' kiln from Portland OR to San Diego for under $250. Add that to the price and it is still a killer deal

Hey everyone..... thanks for all the input, including PMs. And it's great to see ya'll again, since I'm rarely here anymore.

The woman here came down in her price & I couldn't resist. Works great, and is only 5 minutes from my house. Great idea, Marty, to commission Guy.... hadn't thought of something like that. But I committed to this one. It'll be more, but still not too bad. And it's easy peasy.

Yay! I've never had my own sander before. For the past several years I had a friend's equipment while he built his house, but alas, he finished building it and the equipment went home. WooHOO.

I bought one off of Craigslist for $250.00. It's an older machine in good shape except the box started to rot out in a couple of places. It's in my shed so I am waiting for spring to fiber glass the box.

I have the bee 4" x 106", I paid exactly ZERO $$$$ for it.

As a testament to how good these things are, the one I got spent 3 years unused outside of a glass aquarium shop in temperatures ranging from -30 c to +30. When the aquarium company moved out they left it behind. It was literally frozen to the ground, we used a fork lift to yank it out of the ice. I figured the motor would be shot as it was covered in ice. I took it home and left it outside for another couple of years.

Well I finally got around to trying this thing out and it works 100%, I haven't done a thing to it. I've been using it steady for a few years with no issues.

All of these things are built like a tank and will last a long time.

I also have the bee. Bought it new back when new meant $1500!!! Despite trying to keep it clean, it got quite a bit of rust, so I recently took it apart, and had the unit powder coated. I found a place that did a three step, sandblast, zinc coat, powder and clear for $250. I am now rebuilding, replacing all hardware with stainless steel and will have a brand new unit for under $300. Will post photos when done. HIS is best for belts, and the trizacts are amazing
