24" inch round Kiln Shelves

Post by twin vision glass »

Hello to everyone. I am looking for 24 inch round kiln shelves for my deep skutt kiln. I really would like it in one piece and not joining as it is important to have a completely full shelf. I will waite patiently till someone might have some suggestions.
Les
Upon further reflection, perhaps large square could be cut. BUT any large kiln shelf that would fit in a 26" wide Skutt.

Yes! Thank you! I needed a new shelf too. My golden retriever went running though my studio and my shelves were standing on end as I just primed them. Bang! Two fell over and one broke.

I'm curious what they use those 1 3/4" dia. Solid Silicon Carbide Posts for? Kiln posts?

Thanks!

I LOVE the Euclid company as I do believe they are Canadian AND that is the kiln type I use at Uroboros Glass Company when I go down for residency's . It is a large and wonderful top and bottom element kiln . So incredible to do large work in. (and they are so very very kind and helpful) . It is a dream place to go. Nothing but wonderful things to say about Uroboros. :) Les

I use Corelite shelves in my Euclid clamshells. The shelves are 25.5 inches in diameter and fit nicely in the 29" diameter kilns.

I have always wanted to try those shelves. Do you like them with Kiln Wash as the way I work I cannot use fiber. Les

I never use fiber. I quick heat the shelf in the kiln to 500 degrees, take it out and spray a thin mix of kiln wash on it while it is hot. I have fired these shelves at least a hundred times and have had no problems with them. I elevate the shelf a couple of inches from the kiln floor with small softbrick posts.

i have corelite shelves for both mama - 24" jen ken "round" - and papa - 28" square olympic - kilns. LOVE them! i only use kiln wash on them, often cheat and just add 4 layers new kiln wash on existing kiln wash unless i've had opal glass pull up the kilnwash. they clean well with a paint scraper - i sometimes follow up with a coarse sanding sponge.
