I found the manufacturers wholesale source for colored micas. It is made by Engelhard. 800-758-9541
The minumum order is $250. Standard packaging is in 25 kilo boxes. I asked the price for gold sparkle mica and was told $14.25 per kilo. They also repackage in 5 kilo and 1 kilo packages with an upcharge. The catalog is on it's way to me with pricing... You can mix and match colors to get the $250. I can see doing a coop order once I understand the selection and pricing.
Lots of companies buy this stuff and mix it in to their products. It looks pretty much identical to Pearlex and the Thompson Lusters. Ferro's Fantasie series seems to be micas like these mixed with a clear flux.
Hidden here on the bottom of this posting LOL is the news that you can fire this stuff on top of enamels and fire the enamel side down and the mica will protect the enamel from sticking to the mold. I did this on prefired fiber paper.
