French Cleats

I saw the new video on the Bullseye site yesterday. Leslie from Twin Visions asked about where to get french cleats and the Dow 995 silicone. I found some french cleats in Home Depot, manufactured by OOK. They were in the isle with the picture hanging stuff and screws and nails and stuff. They were $7.97 for a 5" or 6" one (60 lbs), $9.97 for a 12" (100 lbs) and $14.97 for an 18" one ( 200 lbs). They looked like aluminum. The Dow they didn't have, so I guess online is the best place for that.

I've been using Panel Clips for years, purchased through Brooklyn Hardware in Oregon. They're inexpensive and look like the ones in the Bullseye Catalog:

If you can't find the Dow product I always us GE Silicone II on french cleats with excellent results!

I have used that in the past,Don. I haven't made anything that was so large and heavy that I was worried about it falling off the wall.

Don - How long do you let the GE Silione II cure before you feel safe hanging the piece?

72 hours is usually a safe curing time.
