Fusing wire between 2 sheets and then slumping

Post by Peter Angel »

Hello all,

I would like to fuse (sandwich) thin copper wire between 2 sheets of 3mm glass and then slump into a shallow platter shape.

This would be 2 firings.

Will then wire inside the glass slump together with the glass? Or will the glass and wire separate out during the slump?

it will slump but not stretch. if the drop is too much and causes the glass to stretch, then the wires can be pulled to the surface or even out of the glass. the wires will act like a wire melt in that case.

In my experience, the glass will break because it moves, the wire does not.
