Woodblock printing on glass - ?

Post by Havi »

Hello dear friends,
I want to print the texture of a piece of wood I have, on glass. I have printed it a lot on paper. I have no idea how to transfer the image to the glass. I tried a flexible silicon sheet - transferred the image to it, and then to the glass, but it did not work, in any direction.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
Could not find an answer to THIS, in Jody's book. Please help, if you can

would greatly appreciate,
Many thanks,

Havi

Hello Havi!

Is it acceptable to put enamel directly on the wood or do you have to worry about staining the wood? There are also glue-based stamp pads -- stamp the image onto the glass and coat with glass powder.

Also... it might be possible to take an image of the piece of wood, convert the image to black/white, and then screen or powder print.

I hope this sparks some ideas...

Best, Dana

Many thanks Dana,
For chiming in and for giving your advises.

Unfortunately, Israel is not USA - - -
I do not think we have here, this stamps with the glue that you mention,

It seems better for me to give up the whole idea, as I have other ideas which could be fulfilled quicker and easier. I LOVE this woodblock, but if I can not work with it immediately [for glass. can print it on paper] - then at the situation now - better to leave it altogether.
Nonetheless, I am very grateful, and will keep in mind your suggestions, when I am out of the country I might find those things elsewhere.

Thanks again
Havi

Derivatives of Dana’s suggestion: print from the woodblock to decal paper and then transfer the decal to glass. Or use screen printing drawing fluid and print the block on a screen fabric. Both techniques are a little complicated for a one-off print, but the investment might lead to more fun

Thanks, Don
Decal paper is an option that can be done here. Can it be in red color???
I never did it, but I can inquire. I know they make decals here. Will just have to call the person who makes them. It could complete a series of prints with the same woodblock!

I tell you this WARM GLASS, had helped me SO MUCH. Thank you Brad for having it.

And thank you guys for always offering a solution - - -
