Firepolish

Post by StaceyG »

Hi, I looked on the archives for info on firepolishing and didn't see what I was looking for.

Is there a schedule for firepolishing? Do you bring it up to temp ASAP and then anneal? Do you need to anneal slowly or can you just turn the kiln off if doing small cabs?

Thanks,
Stacey

Depending on your kiln and the color of the glass, firepolishing is done arount 1300-1350 with about a 10-20 min hold.

The heating and annealing schedule would be the same as if you were doing a slump.

To firepolish already fused small cabs, you usually can heat at 500 degrees per hour, and just let the kiln shut off and cool at it's own rate after firepolishing.
