I'm helping my friend's daughter with a school project and would like to point her to some historical information regarding fused glass. I've done some online searchng (this website also) and only came up with one reference for her.

If one of you happen to know of a website or two that explains the ancient art of fusing, and its revival, your help is greatly appreciated.

Thx,
Mira

I don't know of a website that discusses fusing, but I'd suggest that you look in books on ancient Egyptian Jewelry and funerary objects. I've taught this subject very briefly in fusing classes and many different books I've read on ancient Egypt gave me the information I've used.

The ancient Egyptians made glass in dung fired kilns. The earliest piece of fused glass jewelry that I'm aware of is from the reign of the female pharoah Hatshepsut.

Good luck -

A few articles at the Corning Museum of glass may spark some interest.
