It might be fun/illuminative if we are to donate the pieces to the WGW auction to develop a suggested template for a story board and have each participant create a story board on foam core with photos and an explanation... post them around the wall of the room to add interest to the pieces.

Story board idea; a row of small pictures across the top with photos of typical style pieces, then a large photo of the 'opposite' piece and an explanation beside the large photo. Those of you 'exchanging' styles could have your story boards double width (for the two of you) and correlated...

One idea, anyway. And Brad can post the same image (well, a digital version of it) on a seperate forum after the auction for all o us that aren't going to make it to the Corning WGW this year

OK Nanette and Nikki, I've got you added to the list. Dani, I've crossed you off.

Dee - sorry, I must have missed your question somehow. I hadn't really planned on a due date yet because Brad doesn't know when or where we'll ship them yet. I figured as people finished them, we'd just keep adding them to a thread in the Photo section. We can post a picture of what our regular work looks like and an image of our alter piece, and discuss what we liked or didn't like about working in a contrary fashion, and what we've learned, and what we may incorporate into our future work, etc.

Linda - as much as I love the story-board idea, chances are I won't be at WGW to set it up, and unless there is another voulenteer who wants to do that part we better just leave the "show" to exist on the board. I don't want to burden Brad with another job to be responsible for. It's a great idea though, so if anyone wants to do it . . . ?

I'm going to try to do this if I can... I haven't made that much stuff, but I know where my thought processes have been leading me...

my "usual" style: small, geometric, cool colors, flat, jewelry, transparents

opposite: small (kiln restrictions), "flow-y", warm or grayscale colors, slumped or other wise shaped, objet d'art or functional, opaque.

Does that sound good? Or am I missing something? I have to stay small, 'cause I never knew I'd be doing glass fusing, so have a small kiln... can go up to 4x4 max! However, family owes me glass 'cause I"m making glass tiles for the kitchen, so I should be able to get some...

Just stumbled across this 2004 thread. Does anyone know where I could find a link to the photos that, presumably, were posted on the WGB? There are a lot of names I recognize and would love to see their challenge work but can't read every post from 2004 on.

To the best of my recollection (and my memory is not what it used to be), this never happened.

I used to put on conferences and this was just prior to the one I held in Corning, NY. We did have a silent auction there, but the pieces in the auction were not the ones discussed in this thread.
